Jim, the iron mask refers to the chain mail mask that the figure is wearing. This protected the face from 'spatter', flakes of steel that were thrown off when the armour was struck by bullets, splinters etc. British WWI tankers wore a very similar mask. Dave

Hi Jim. I just received the kit in the mail and can't wait to get started ...Thanks again .. My first look in the box has impressed me ... Takom have done a great job on the details ... Now we'll see how it all comes together.
