The centerpiece to this set is a hollow cast turret with sandbag detail molded on. The turret has the open commander’s cupola and fully stored bustle rack molded onto it as well. The detail is well defined and nicely molded. The turret is rounded out with a searchlight with molded on cover, separate loader’s hatch and three 90mm wooden ammo crates.
The best feature of this set is the suspension. The old Esci/Ertl 1/72 scale modern armor kits suffered from having the road wheels molded as one thick wheel instead of as an actual pair of road wheels. Goffy Model gives us a complete set of individually molded road wheels, compensating idler wheel and support rollers. The inner road wheels even include attached road wheel arms. The suspension components alone make the conversion well worth the money and could be used to dress up any of the old Esci/Ertl M48 or M60 kits. Hull detailing is topped off by the inclusion of a separate driver’s hatch.
Assembly will be straight forward and relatively easy. This set is for the modeler looking for their first 1/72 scale resin conversion and would be fun for an experienced modeler as well.
This set is highly recommended for modern armor fans or Vietnam War modelers.
Our thanks to Goffy Model for providing the review sample.
