Username: CMOT70Matchbox model kits were the big thing for me when i was 10 years old. I made a mess of all of them i could get hold of, plus lots of Novo and Airfix kits too. When i was 13 i got a Tamiya F1 (Ferrari 312T3) car model for Christmas and i'd never seen anything like it! It was a turning point in the hobby for me. This started my more serious attempts at making models and also a long interest in Formula One racing (which is now waning finally). I stopped making models during the 90's, not because i had better things to do, but more because of space problems and moving around to different RAAF military bases. Return to civilian life in 2001 brought with it a new interest in abusing plastic, which has not abated since. First a string of 1/20 scale Tamiya F1 cars, but stil the occasional aircraft, ship and even armour subject. I build at a fast rate or not at all. I like almost any subject except modern aircraft which is just too close to work for me! Due to limited attention span i rarely start projects that take more than a month to finish. I only work on one project at a time until it's completed. I prefer painting to building which is why i do very little scrachbuilding/adding detail. Mostly just happy to try and do the best with whats in a kit box.
