I remember being a young 2LT in Germany in 1990 and seeing the Leo 1A4/5 at a couple of ranges, me sitting in my newly minted M1A1 thinking what a great tank I was commanding. My days in those iron beasts are over, but building that Leo 2A6 I was thining to myself this is an outstanding tank, so sleek and what a long gun tube, I put it next to my M1A1 model WOW!!
They were fun. Working on a Jagpather just for fun before getting serious about my "Puffing Dragon" project.
Thanks for the postitive comments.

Hey does the scale of the two kits have to be the same
The only modern tank I have is a Academy 1/48 Leopard 2 A5 and I don't have any other 1/48 kits. I would like to do a 1/72 early Tiger what do you think.

remember all that time ago i joined this campaign with these-
well i have been building the challenger, in fact i just finished it so i'm 50% of the way to finishing the campaign itself. heres a couple of pics of it on the way, on thing i found with this was the tracks, someone posted earlier that they could be a problem as the angles going around wheels can look odd and too sharp, well thats how these were, but i was able to fettle them till they looked allright
nothing to this armour lark!

Nice Challenger, Phil. It will look great next to the WWI tank. The development of the Tank arm can really be seen with one of the first next to one of the latest.
Looking forward to see the father

heres the work so far on the father to my chally (or should that be great-great grandfather at least
) the p/e set is by extra tech and fits quite nicely to the plastic parts-
comparison of the sponsons, pistol port covers replaced by etch, and gun barrels drilled out
the kit door against the etched door, which is actually two pieces and the etch has parts for the inside of these doors allowing you to pose them opened, however for me, if i did this i would have to think about some sort of interior, so i bottled it and left them closed!
some general views of it as it stands now, the unditching beam was made from a piece of the sprue which emhar kindly have made with the exact profile of the beams used i.e. longer width at the bottom, so it was a simple paint job, then add the etched strapping

ok my WW1 tank is finished, but not without a little oopsie! and i can't use my inexperience with armour as an excuse because i've built this same kit before
can you spot the deliberate mistake?
yep thats right, the unditching beam goes over the front end, comes up at the back the slams into and rips off the rail-DOH! all i can say is that i blindly followed the p/e instructions that appeared to show it fitting on like this, and it was only when preparing these pics on a hosting site it occurred to me that i'd got this slightly wrong! its actually now finished with the rail in the position it should be in, i'll hopefully get some pics up of the father and great-great grandson up tomorrow

Looks great, Phil. Interesting to see how the tank forces have changed over less than 100 years.
Thanks for sharing and participating

Phil, well done! And don't fret too badly about the oops; I'm sure we've all made similar mistakes due to sketchy/unclear instructions. (I know I have.
) I liked seeing your comparison shot of the door... it sure does show what a difference PE makes in the crispness of the detail!
Keith... I also have to say well done to you, sir. Son looks like he could take pa out behind the barn!
What a difference.
Jesper, ain't it the truth? Sure makes you wonder what the next hundred years is going to bring. Hovertanks? Some weird combination of the F-117 and the M-1? Or maybe no tanks at all? (I know... yeah, right!) Kind of scary when science fiction becomes science fact, isn't it? Oh... wait... (thinking of Capt. Kirk's communicator and a Cell phone.) Yeah. Scary.

What a great campaign this is, great idea and great entries.
I especially like the Super Sherman and Merkava
Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll all finish before the end of the month

No news for some time now, but my father and (step)son are coming around...
Here's the father, an Italeri 1/35 Elefant (an old dog of a kit, with HobbyBoss tracks and self-made zimmerit):
And the stepson, Revell 1/35 Panzerhaubitze 2000(newish kit with lots of fitting and detail problems). I know one is artillery and the other is an antitank, but they do have that resemblance don't you think?
Both are in the decalling process right now, their gloss coat drying currently. I'll try to weather and complete them in the following two weeks, but since I am as always under a strict time schedule and I'm a slooooowww modeller, I might need an extension, be warned.

Well due to switching jobs and some other stuff, I won't have time to do the final details and storage for a bit on these, but for the most part they're 'done', so this is the best I got. I am going to try to get better pictures, the Merk doesn't nearly show how much work is in the toning of the colors(and its almost grey) and the M51 has a bunch of nice filters and streaks that don't show here either. I fixed the side skirt on the Merk after the photo(for the 6th time
) as I was trying to get good shots with the lighting I have and they didn't turn out so good. Two 1/35th kits are a lot of work
Oh well. So for now:
Heres a bit better idea of the color tones before the washes or anything was done on the Merk, and some of the M51's weathering shows a little bit here:

Great work, Kevin. Two great entries for the campaign. It is funny how the sons always seem bigger than the fathers

People, I have to say, once again, great stuff!
Now here are my entries for Father & Son... a Russian T-34/85 and a T-72B(?)M. And once again, Jesper, I have to say
thank you for the decals... much better than the Arabic/Farsi decals that I had for the T-72.
Obviously, the T-34/85 is intended to more or less represent a museum display. And I still have yet to build the dio for the T-72. Cheers, folks!

Due to a mass assault by finals at my grad school and the need to visit another town, I haven't been able to progress with my builds and I won't be able to complete them in 48 hours. I am officially requesting an extension of at least a week, better if 10 to 15 days, so that I can focus on and complete my builds.

I just want to check in and see if this is still active. The original end date has passed but I extended it a couple of weeks,

I finished my entries, but I think at least Emre is still working on his entries. Maybe also others.
At least no ribbons has been awarded yet. Maybe the campaign leader has an idea how many entries we can expect to come during the last days of the campaign.

I am getting there, I am getting there! I know we are already 9 days overdue, but I was already asking for a two week extension beforehand.
Only weathering left, my father and son are painted, decalled, clear coated, Just waiting for those clear coats to dry. I was not rushing as Mark said "a couple of weeks".

I was not picking on you
, I have noticed that even with being overdue there has not been any activity since your last post and my extension. Where is everyone?

Ok,
I have attempted to reach Richard by Pm with negative results. Do we have someone ready to take this over if necessary to see it to a successful close?
Also, there has not been a ribbon uploaded.
Thanks in advance.

Hmmm.... the campaign leader has gone AWOL. I can take over this one and come up with a ribbon. Just put me as administrator on the campaign and I will make a ribbon, upload it, and award ribbons to participants.
Anybody has any designs for ribbons, feel free to post them here or PM me.
