Gentlemen, welcome to the Father & Son recruitment center
Your mission is simple: Built two related models from the same country and from two different time period.
Here's a few sample of what I have in mind:
Tiger 1 vs Leopard 2A6
Sherman vs M1A1
Char B1 bis vs Leclerc
US 2 1/2Ton 6x6 cargo truck vs HEMTT
Sd.Kfz. 251 vs Marder 1A2
WW2 M2A1 vs Stryker
Willys vs Humvee
M13/40 vs C1 Ariete
WW1 A7V vs Panther
And one I would really like to see is a Pz.Kpfw. Ausf L "Luchs" vs SpPZ 2 "Luchs"
While most examples are WW2 vs Modern there is nothing against going WW1 vs WW2, Cold War vs Modern, WW1 vs Modern... The sky's the limit as they say.
The only fast rule is to keep both vehicle from the same type: MBT vs MBT, Truck vs Truck, SPG vs SPG... If in doubt just ask. I'm quite open and if this can help some of you enter the campaign then we'll see what we can do.
As usual the main objective is to have fun, nothing else. As there is 2 models to built it may be a good idea to go with simple ones not needing a lot of scratchuilding or 5 tons of AM parts
Think about it:
- Two models, twice the fun.
- Two models from the stash mean more room for those upcoming "I need this kit even if I already have 300 others in my stash" kits.
- If you're stuck in one time period, this is a great opportunity to have a look at something a little different.
- This could be a good way to relax between some Super/hyper detailling projects you are working on presently.
Campaign start on August 1st 2007 so that leave's you with plenty of time to choose your subject.

Well, I am joining this campaign for sure, I just have to pick my kits.
My thoughts so far:
1. T-34 and T-72
2. JS-3 and T-72 (maybe with the JS-3 in Egyptian markings)
3. T-55 and T-72
4. M60 with plow and M1 Abrams with plow
As you can tell, I really want to get rid of the T-72 in my stash.

I am also in on this one. I am planning to do a cold war Leopard I in German colours, but not know if it will be the father or the son.
As I understand it I could join it up with a WWII German MBT or a modern German MBT.
Anyway, I am in, but my head is still spinning on the tons of possibilities, so nothing is certain yet

I have chosen my kits and I am ready to ride....
I will join with a Tiger Elefant(Italeri) and Panzerhaubitze 2000 (Revell). Hopefully I can build them in time. The italeri kit looks way too simple, but the Revell kit looks to be exactly the opposite with a huge box and lots of pieces...

Hello emroglan,
"Elephant" was a planned as a assault gun, but used as tank hunter.
Panzerhaubitze2000 is a self-propelled artillery gun.
For example better the "Hummel" or "Wespe" would match to the Panzerhaubitze2000
This should be only a suggestion.
I will come in with "Achtrad-Spähwagen" to "Achtrad Luchs" in 1:72.
Regards and much fun
Dirk

Well well, I know, but if AT vs SPG puts them in different categories then I will switch one of them...

Hi Emre,
Like dbaumi60 said it would be better to match a Hummerl or Wespe or any other SP artillery with the panzerhaubitze.
But the Elefant and the panzerhaubitze do share the same look. Kinda like half-brothers. So if you really want to make that pair you can. Will say that they come from the same mother but different fathers

Hi Richard
Is it allowed to mix the scales. Fx. the father in 1/35 and the son in 1/72? I know it would not look fantastic in the gallery, but I might just end up doing it like that, if it is allowed?

That's why I wanted to build them in the first place, they do really look "family". If it is accepted I still want to build my Elefant, if not I will switch to Tamiya's Wespe.
I leave the final decision to your call Richard, as you are the leader.

Jesper: No problems, you can mix the scale if you want. When it's time to take the pictures just put the 1/72 nearer the camera this should help making it feel bigger
Emre: Yes you can go ahead with the Elefant/Panzerhaubitze if you want

I'm thinking along the lines of an M4 Sherman and an M1 Abrams. Both are kind of legendary in their own way.
I always wanted to build an M4, anyhow, and the M1 is a slight step-out for me, seeing as how I focus on WWII.
What about airplanes for this campaign? Such as a P-51 and an F-15 (both by North American)? Or a Hurricane and a Harrier, both from Hawker?

Sorry, no planes. Armorama is an armour forum
If you want such a campaign for planes then why not try to submit it at Aeroscale?

I think this belongs to Aeroscale as already pointed out. It is a good idea for a campaign and you could submit it for early 2008 if you want to.
If you want to build a P-51 or a Hurricane I am sure you can fit them in somewhere in the upcoming campaigns. Fx. check out my selected link that will take you to the "Rumble in the East Asian Sky" campaign starting 1st August. *commercial message ends*

I never even thought about Aeroscale... maybe I'll do that later on!
But in the meantime, I'll enjoy being a part of this campaign!

Great Idea. If I can squeeze out two tanks, I will do it. I do have a full plate though. I might come back and enlist on this one.

I decide to change my entry from 1/72 King Tiger and 1/35 Leopard 1 to 1/72 King Tiger and 1/72 Leopard 2A4. It is much better to have both models in the same scale when your are building part of a family
The 1/35 Leopard 1 will be used for the whitewash campaign instead.
Here are my entries:

Jesper, careful with that Italeri kit, their "wargaming" kits are usually old Esci kits, it might give you a slight nightmare Of course this is just an assumption on my part, after trying my hand on the Italeri Jagdtiger. The individual parts looked OK, but you couldn't put them together
Posted: Thursday, July 05, 2007 - 12:39 AM UTC
Yeah, I know it is an old ESCI kit. I actually liked the ESCI kits in my childhood, but it is many years/decades ago, so my memory might be distorded
It looks good, but if it will ever fit together, I will have to find out when the campaign starts.
Thanks for the heads up

Watch out for the fit of the tracks. That's where I gave up on my Jagd, both the tracks were distorted and the roadwheels could not be aligned with the... uh I forgot, what did we call the large gear that actually turns the track? That part and the roadwheels didn't match up. So I threw away the kit and my friend scrapped it for spares
Check out the Revell kits for a decent King Tiger, they are really great.

Richard, would a straight 105mm M1 and an M1A2 work or is the time span not great enough? Thanks, "Q"

Hi Matthew,
If it's a first batch M1 (like the early Tamiya kit) versus the newer M1A2 then yes no problem with me.
I'm glad to see that we have reach the minimum participant number. That doens't mean that there's no room anymore for other peoples to join. Come on guys, you know you want to participate

I've been getting my kits lined up. I scratched the M1 idea. I got something British in the que and also some Israeli goodies. Just getting parts cleaned for the time being, and some prelim sketches of changes I plan on making. Hopefully this will have a good turn out of finished items. See you all on the 1st...tic-tock, tic-tock... "Q"

I'm already building the Sp.Pz.2 Luchs!
I don't think I'll make a Pz.2 Luchs at the moment, as it seems they only have complicated camo schemes you can make just with an airbrush (I don't have it) and I'll leave for the holidays in a couple of weeks!
