Question time.....

Tom ........go for it ---seems almost every one has used a Maz at some time ---if you fancy an area with a --"bang-bang " up top ---yours to research ....even Brittish kit has been moved by Maz T-T's..so I have been informed ..(not seen the pic as yet)
Jacques.........fair comment ... ..but not in this case ....

"must have been oil on fingers stopped it sticking"

..not having used * laser -cut masks* before ...rely on my trusty "fluid"...I was not in-tune to the fact that the "sticky"should be handled with a set of tweezers possibly .
The enamel paint did not penetrate the other 4 masks just the front 2 .. 'cause they were applied a couple of time to get lined up .......
***Did observe that the 2 quarterlights and main screen windows do sit a "nats hair" proud when seated , they fit from the outside ,and so there is a fraction of a gap all round ....door windows fit from back ---no gap
Yes --I did spray from middle to outside of masks.. ....
Will lock that "sealing" tip away in my little grey cells ------
Tom .........I shall get "detention " for doing this .. so ........ ..dont tell JIM ...

Hey Steve,

I had heard a rumor that Trumpy's masks were more Acrylic friendly, so to hear that you did not have problems with the other masks will be reassuring for other builders.

As for the tip, glad to help. It is something i learned from, GASP, a aircraft modeller...you know how anal they get about their canopies...

Now you just need to hurry up and finish this thing so i can get started on MINE!

Thats just about it ....only got the tie-down rings on the trailer sides to do --(when I find something to load --easier to link the chains on ) and find a tree to make a base for it
It has taken 7 days (less a day for Stiring Show )= 37 hours
No real problems --even doing my wheels with inner hubs first
As stated at start ..*have only used the p-ewhere there was no plastic alternative* ..but can see no problems using it...it is very good the bits I used
Next time I do rubber wheels will reduce water to glue from 10:1 down to 6:1 give it a bit more body ---though t worked fine and had no paint peel
The clear light lenses were fine and went on ok
All together it has been a good enjoyable build
Latest "bench" shots below

Once it is on a base will do some pics
Hope you have enjoyed the build ....if you have any questions during your build feel free to contact me
Next ---- the resin one

Good job Steve. Only thing missing now is a proper tank on the trailer.

just ordered one myself. i was debating until i saw your build. it should make a nice match with the M26, M123A1, and FAMO kits. there are a couple other trailer pulling Oshkosh rigs out there as well but a bit on the pricey side for now. thank you for sharing!

Steve: What is the vehicle in the fourth photo back from the last one? It's the truck with a black emblem on the front fender and a really clean tire at the back. I'd also like to know what the tank is on the trailer. I really like it as well. Are these scratch builds or kits?

As an ex-recovery specialist I really like models of recovery vehicles. Apparently you do as well.

Thanks! I will have to check out one of the trucks myself. I thought it was a Sherman on the trailer based on the lower half but the squared turret threw me.

Gotta sound off regarding the MAZ tank transporter/tractor: Your build up is absolutely GREAT and whoever at Trumpter is responsibile for the majority of the mould work on this baby is an expert witout equal, however, I am a dedicated gear head and whoever did the internal driveline parts doesn't know up from down on how a drivelive goes together.

In total two drive shafts are missing, two lower gearboxes just are not there, the shape of the transfer case is majorily wrong and the transmission is barely acceptable. In the kit the forward driveshafts are shown as coming directly off the transmission instead of the transfer case (a major error!) and finally the small universal joint and drivesharft that is supposed to come off the top on the transfer case PTO and drive the winch (this is VERY visable) are not even there even though there is a hole in the bottom of the winch structure to receive them.

If the person responsible for the mechanical components of the tractor had in their lives ever put together even one 4x4 truck model they would have known immediately the error of their ways.

Thanks for listening.

Tonight I will post the link to a site that has CAD drawings of the CORRECT driveline

Here is a photo of my first semi-scratch built gear box installed in the frame. The upper driveshaft that would connect to the transfer case is not yet installed as I am still working on its' replacement.
