I got this for my birthday in April from my Sister.

Please be kind it is only my 2nd Armor subject and my first was a tamiya 1/35 panzerflakwagon which i "tried" to airbrush for the first time...lets just say it wasnt so good lol.

Anyway. I used the Eduard set on this which i have to say was lovely! Tamiya acrylics used for paint. Promodellers weathering wash and pastels used for weathering. And a home-made camo net.

I didnt put the barrels on the back as i wanted it to look a bit different. but i do have them all ready in case i think otherwise at any point.

Base is an old picture frame painted to look deserty and the sand is sand/pva (white glue) mix.

Any comments and constructive critisism welcome!!

It's a beautiful vehicle. I'm sure you're hooked on armour now! It looks like you set the tank into the sand/pva (white glue) mix

thanks for the comments!!

I just realised i havnt included the crew. I just have to put the visors on and il stick them in and take another photo or two. Also, i think i need to stick down the camo net a bit more in places as it looks liks its floating.

and yes, i did set the tank into the sand/pva mix. Wanted to give it a sence of weight but im not sure how well its worked. I can always add more mix.

I really like your Challenger build, it’s well painted, weathered, and put together, I do have one niggle and one dislike. My niggle is that it is odd to see a Challenger without fuel drums on it (I live in the middle of Salisbury plain so see them quite often) I have seen them with only one drum on but have yet to see them with none attached when in operation, and my dislike is the camo net which to me looks over scale. With that said it’s a nice model, well done.

thanks for the comments guys!

the tinge of green is some irredescent film i used, if i take another photo with diffent lighting you might catch some blues, yellows and purples as well.

as for the fule drums, fair enough. I will put them on when i do the figures. but as for the camo net, i cant really change the size of it now unfortunatly.

Nice and dusty. I think the net would look a bit better if you flattened and put it down by the headlights. Defence Image Database picture

Excellent work Richard I really like it mate. Only little niggle I have and it's not a big one is the TISH lens above the gun, it should look almost like polished gunmetal because the lens is germanium crystal as thermal sensors can't see through glass.

the irridescent film...

i have two types. One is actually confetti for weddings, the other (which i used here) is designed to be wrapping paper/gift wrap whatever you want to call it. (i guess you wrap it around the normal gift wrap to make it look all pretty lol. anyone want pics?

i got this off a guy who found it in a local supermarket. but i guess any decent card shop would have it.

as for the gun lense. Do you mean the bit i have painted black?

and as for the camo net...i know where it SHOULD go, but i wanted to show off my headlights a bit more

to be honest, there will be a lot of mistakes, being my 2nd ever armor...i know practically nothing about the chally II!

As mentioned the netting looks oversized for this scale though...

Here are some photos with regards to positioning the nettting...

Hope it helps!

Good job.
The newer types of optics on Challenger have a Laser eye safe coating and they look 'Pink' from the outside.
The Green that you see on other (older) vehicles, comes from the little blinds being drawn down on the inside of the vehicles optics, they are made from a Green coated material showing through clear lenses!

i cant change the netting now...its glued one!!!

as for the "green" that is just the light. if i take another picture from a different angle i can get a pinky colour.

May I 'Politely' suggest that you, unglue it then.
It looks completely out of place and your closed down driver couldn't see where he is going.
Secondly, in real life it would interfere with the turret traverse. Your good work is spoilt by this part.
