Thanks alot.
Jeff , yes they do just click together ( ww2 tracks ) , and Lars , I had been gathering it all up for a couple of years . Was allways looking for the right tank to model . Finally found two pictures of the same tank from both sides which will make painting a bit easier . Might have to use some artistic licence on the colours though , which looks like green over dark yellow hard edged pattern , but some soft edges on the turret ( hhmmm ) .
By the way , I will be painting soon.
John.

Looks good so far John, great work on the Zimmeret. I gave on the Milliput as the place that have it around me hold onto it too long before someone buys it. Cheers

A few photos before the paint goes on , just had to make sure the tracks fit with the side skirts in place ,

Sorry about my photography skills , I'll get the hang of it soon . It never looks like that to me in real life.
As a foot note , I also have some photo-etched foliage to place on the tank , but not as much as this...

The actual tank I'm modelling only has a little dotted around it . But that was two full sets ( aber ) used on the tiger . You would probably need about ten for a propper job.
Thanks for looking ,
John.

Been busy painting , under-coated with halfords plastic primer ( halfords is a car parts shop for all our American freinds ) and brush painted the red undercoat , like a heavy dry brush.

I did the wheels in black for a slight colour variation.
Mixed up dark yellow , cleaned my favourite tool , and liquid masked some parts for the red under-coat to show through.
Paint chips , uh-oh !

The first pass of dark yellow....

Now I was not too pleased with the dark yellow and after a further study of the photos of the actual tank there did not seem to be any on the fender .
So I mixed up some more dark yellow , this time a bit lighter and fixed the side skirts in place , and gave it another go....

The turret....

Next up is painting the camo.
Just for a laugh....
here is what I practice air-brushing and paint consistency on...

Thanks for looking ,
John.

Hi Neil , the foliage is aber and to paint it , first under-coat with halfords the I spray it green , then brown all over .
Then comes the long bit , which is brush painting the leaves different tones , then finally picking out the branches again with browns and maybe a little dry-brush here and there.
Its quite brittle but any leaves which fall off I just stuck them on the tank.
Hope that helps ,
John.

Here is the model masked up for the green and a very little brown to go on..

looks a right mess ,
this is the result.....

the side skirts , which I think turned out nice....

the results of the liquid mask around the hatches , keeping it subtle and not over-doing it

the turret roof and cupola , you can just make out the base colour over-spray to tone down the green and give it a sun bleached effect

Hope you enjoy the photos . It looks a bit garish at the moment but it will be toned down considerably with pigments and washes and so on .
I know some people will say the camo does not line up and so on , but it looks as if the actual tank was brush painted and there is no camo on the upper surfaces at all . So it's artistic license I have used . Who can be 100% from a black and white photo any-ways.
All the best
John.

Well its been a long time......reading the thread about what you can do for the site got me to show you all whats happened to the model.
Basically , I made a huge boo boo.

Can you tell what it is...........
correct answers might win some-thing , har har .
Sorry about the photography , forgot how to use it

as you can see it now resides on the back of a dragon wagon which is stuffed in the back of the display cabinet.......never to see sunlight again......

Any-how , can't be bothered with re-painting any of it , I seem to be cursed when it comes to Panthers , this one came close to the bin on severall occasions.
The side skirts turned into mitigated disaster , thats why they're not fitted.
Looking for a crew man to stuff in the hatch and finish the foliage just to draw a line under it all.
But as might have gathered it won't get done any-time soon

Love visiting this site and feel a bit of a let down to you all , but felt I owed it to all of you to show you what happened to it.
Maybe the next will be better , untill then,
John.

Hi John

I like your Panther, especialy the paint scheme. I wouldn't bother repainting it. The extra storage on the rear deck is a good touch, a bit of eye candy. A nice job you've done on the Panther and the Tiger looks great too.
