Hello , now I know every-one loves German armour , and I'm no exception.I've had all the different parts ( aber , royal , ww2 ) for what seems like ages. The kit I have had for ages as well. I was allways looking for a good picture to work from now I have them to work from , so off I go........
Thats all the parts , and I have all ready done most of the zimmerit .....
The method I use is to roll milliput flat , using lots of talcum powder , scratch the models surface to give it a key , then give it a coat of liquid cement and apply the milliput. Use a home made tool to do the patterns and a knife to score it.
I have left the back end free of zimmerit where the spare links go , probably regret that.
I would also like to know if the kit barrel is accurate , the muzzle looks a bit small to me.
Will try to do weekly posts , working on the wheels and tracks at the moment.

looking great so far john, i think a couple more pics on how you made and applied the zimm would have been a good idea, and not all panthers had zimm where the spare tracks were hung, looking forward to your next update. cheers .

Hi John ...seems like we're both at about the same place in the build ...Good start but I think you're going to have trouble getting the tool racks on the sides on..I cut out the places for the racks to go as these were welded to the hull before the zimmerit was put on and many Panthers have no zimmerit behind the racks at all ..Here's what I did ...
I hope you can scrape off at least where the frames go.

John -
Really looking good, and especially the zim. You couldn't have a better reference/example to by than 'the_bear'. looks like you've got plenty of details to add and enhance, should be sweet. You'll love the WW II Production tracks, they're the best in my opinion and I used them on both my Jagdpanthers. If you're worried about the barrel, I've got an extra Panther "A" barrel set from "Armorscale" that I'd be happy to donate to the cause, just send me a PM.

WOW, really like what you've done so far. I'll be following this as I'd like to learn more about your zimmerit technique. I got some kits and PE Zim for them but I think your way would be more realistic and fun to do . milvehfan

PARDON?!
Looks good John, and I can really appreciate the effort involved in roughing your tank surface to give the milliput some bite. Zimmerit is something that makes Allied builders smile...
Is WWII productions an Aussie company?

John, Like what you've done, your technique seems simple enough, will have to give it a whirl real soon. Looking forward to seeing your finished Panther!
Richard, Great progress on your "Kitty" as well, looks like you both are making some great headway! Lot's of work for sure.
Thanks for sharing your photos! Cheers -

Got the tracks done , and started to do the tools and what not on the hull sides
got a lovelly curve on this side.......
the back end , and in the fore-ground is the aber rear stowage boxes , which I have started to make up
getting a fair bit done due to work load , or lack of it...more soon ,
John.

Hey , I forgot to say thanks for all the replies , and any-one having a look , cheers.
Mike Durr , can't believe you'd be willing to send something like that , I'm touched , thanks.
Bradley , WW11 were an Aussie company , believe their products are now hard to come by,when ever I see them at shows or on e-bay i buy them up ( for a tank that I want to do ).

A good Zim-job really make that armor that everybody loves look great. It add a dimension to modeling that other eras and countries just dont have. (I am not knocking other eras and countries, because I love to build them all) Great job.

Hi
Reference WW2 Productions. As far as I'm aware they still in going and producing excellent track alternatives. I emailed them a couple of months ago regarding RSO tracks and got a reply within 24 hours. The only bummer is the postal cost from Australia to the UK for my specific needs although I seem to remember somebody in the UK stocked them, but sure it worked out about the same price.
For further details see Terry Ashley's reviews over on PMMS and this includes WW2 Productions contact details. They don't have a web site though, just email, good old fashioned phone etc.
PMMS
Hope it's of help
Alan

Done a bit more lately , slow going because the surf's been ok.
Done the side-skirts on one side...
A right pain in the arse to get it all to line up , took two listens of the Beastie Boys album ,one of Kings of Leon and one of Ice T, how about that.
The stowage stowage boxes with zimmerit added,
Also trying to suss out the extra equipment layout that I'll do on the rear deck ( the photo's of the real tank show it stacked up with various items )
The jack took me ages aswell , used aber parts left over from a tiger project.
Thanks for looking , any comments welcome,
John.

Aaarrrggghhh , hate holiday change over days , got stuck in traffic on the way home from the beach , so I needed to chill myself out , so got stuck into the side skirts on the other side.
It's a right pig to get it to line up , hardly chill out material...
Thats all the main stuff done , just the little details to pick up on , which will probably take me ages , untill next time,
John.
