Hey Rick,
this is some very nice historical information you provided along with the link. I was not sure if the SF's had IC's but decided to use their markings since I had purchased them at a local hobby store figuring they would come in handy some day. While I think my photos sources are good my historical data is week so thanks very much for helping me out here.
By the way do you know what Canadian units fielded the IC in NW Europe? Perhaps I can grab the appropriate markings from that Canadian Compnay up on Ottawa called Ultracast and use the current SF markings for my Sherman V I will be doing next.
Cheers,
Dave.

Bison has decals for a IC Hybrid of the British Columbia Regiment. I would think the BCR's had standard IC's too.
Can anyone confirm?
Dave.

Hi Dave,
I'll be following your build with interest as I have a Tamiya M4 hull i'd like to convert into a Firefly Ic knocking around.
Where did you get the armour plate that covers the bow machine gun? Thats something i'll need for the conversion!
Do you have a checklist of what needs doing for this conversion?
Also the 4 'lubricating' holes you mention are actually bolt holes for the roller arm so that it could be mounted on either side, this allowed the bogeys to be 'universal' and used on either side of the tank - handy when you needed a replacement!
Keep up the good work,
James

Hi Matt,
Very nice indeed, those are nice kits and your base coating on the Douglas Kay kit looks very slick. What colour did you use if I may ask?
Based on some recent updated information kindly received from Alan McNeilly I will probably present it in the markings of The 10th Armoured Regiment (The Fort Gary Horse) of the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade. These boys from our Western Province of Manitoba used the IC in France.
Thanks for pictures!
Dave.

Hi Dave,
The basecoat is Tamiya XF61 , It didn't help that the room was too cold.
I'd like to do another Firefly , maybe the hybrid one or a Tulip modified as Irish Guards eventually.

Always good to see more Shermans.....
I do have a couple of questions though
1.) What are the armored plugs for the headlights doing on the hull? they were spot welded onto the headlight guards.
2.) Did you break off the tops of the headlights? The Formations stuff is a little brittle.
3.) Are the periscopes mounted flush - there seem to be some issues with the co-drivers hatch.
Try adding some Mr Surfacer 500 to your model and it will really bring the metal to life with some texture.
I am looking forward to the paint and weathering.

Well Gang, it has been a while since I posted anything on the progress of my Firefly IC that I am building. I have essentially completed the assembly part including all Photo etch parts.
I still need to add the headlight lenses ( I have a set from MV lenses) which I will do after all the painting has been done. Also the travel lock and the stowage on the back still need to be added. I also plan to add a couple of crew figures as well. Please feel free to make some suggestions here as to what figures you would recommend.
And tell me what you think of my kit bashed IC
Cheers,
P.S. I thought I would throw in a picture of the a IC for good measure with my photos.

side view. Love that profile. The shorter Sherman I (M4) versus the VC (M4A4) hull makes her look a littly more stubby.

Hi Dave,
That looks good.
Have to dig out my IC now, maybe convert it to a tulip.

Thanks Matt,
Hopefully the painting will go well.
Alan McNeilly was a tremendous help in providing historical data so I will be marking her out as a IC of The Fort Garry Horse (10th armoured regiment). The FGH fought as part of the independent 2nd CDN armoured brigade which landed in Normandy in support of the Canadian and British Infantry units.
