This thread is the first model we're going to use to manage the proposed model building Campaign ideas put forth on the Site. I'll list them here and update them as they get organized. When a Campaign reaches enough interested participants (10) and has established start/stop dates, rules & parameters, and any other requirements I'll refer Big Jim to this posting so that he knows it's a "go" to setup a Folder in the Campaign Section of our Site for the participants.

As the way we display and chronicle future Campaigns evolves, so will this method of managing them.

To keep the Campaign Docket clean - please do not post replies here. All Campaigns proposed have their own "Genesis" threads. I will monitor them and move any reply posts here to the appropriate thread to keep confusion down. Campaign organizers can feel free to post updates in their threads. I'll monitor those too, capture them, and update the proposed Campaign here in the Docket.

Campaign: Twilight 2000

Leader: GunTruck (Gunnie)

Status: Submitted for approval to "Official" Status - 7/1/03

Dates: (Early Start for Extensive Conversions/Scratchbuilds 7/4/03) 10/1/03 - 12/31/03

Rules: Operational Overview: Twilight:2000 is a post-apocalypse RPG (role playing game) set in the aftermath of a conventional war in Europe that concludes with a limited nuclear exchange - in the game to level the playing field between nations - ensuring neither side would not have the military or industrial capability to gain advantage over any other nation after the war. Hostilities began in the late-1980's, erupting into World War III in the early-1990's. Through desparate escalation of hostilities, US and Soviet forces drew each other into a limited nuclear exchange in Europe in effort to gain industrial and military edge over the other. Nuclear strikes devastated large portions of the US and Soviet Union as well when hostilities abated. Game play action takes place in the year 2000 in the aftermath of these exchanges. Characters are left to fend for themselves in the near-total collaspe of economic, industrial, and military systems in a game of survival.

Originally produced by GDW and now owned by Tantalus, Inc., Twilight:2000 was selected Game of the Year in 1985. When GDW went out of business in the early 1990's, Tantalus, Inc purchased all material and rights to the game system. Even though Tantalus has not made any plans to add new source material to the game system, it has allowed rights to users on the Internet to broaden the scope of the original game. It still lives on today on the Internet.

Twilight:2000 is supported by extensive, but easy to use, documentation and features a wonderful collection of modern equipment - ideal for modeling. The best advantage for using Twilight: 2000 as a Campaign focus is that it has real-world sources that can be used as background material. Twilight:2000 vehicles and weaponry are also covered nicely on the Internet - so there is no need to go out and try to purchase the source material yourself. Twilight:2000 is a modern armor modeler's arena. Additionally, Twilight:2000's background sets the history for the RPG 2300AD (aka Traveller:2300) for you Spacecraft modeling fans out there. Perhaps a future Spacecraft Campaign.

Categories/Classes: Armor, Armor, Armor! Anything and everything in the arsenals of the world's military powers from 1980 forward - plus - anything likely on the drawing board or in prototype stage also got pulled out of the barns and thrust into World War III. Some cutting-edge military equipment saw large roles in the war, and early ASAT (Anti-Satellite) weapons and battlefield lasers were used as well. This Campaign is only limited by the modeler's imagination, the vehicles fielded from 1980 (and in some cases existing in museums and pulled out to fight in desparate battles) on, and the requirement to create something "believable" that fits into the game system's concept.

Awards: Campaign Ribbon - I'd like the wonderful and talented modelers on Armorama create this Campaign Ribbon to be awarded at the conclusion of the Campaign. In progress photos and a completion photo is required for awarding the Ribbon. There is no limit to the number of models you decide to build and enter into the Campaign. Dioramas, figures, ships, planes, trains, and certain automobiles are also eligible.

I'd like to challenge the designers of the Ribbons to come up with an Oak Leaf Cluster version - for those who build more than one vehicle. Additionally, we might consider a Ribbon with a Bronze Star or a Silver Star for an entry all the participants decide is so noteworthy as to have gone above and beyond the normally expected modeling effort.

I'll use this post as a holding area for Campaign ideas put forth, but not fully fleshed out. As they grow and details are added, I'll move them to their own post until accepted as an official Campaign. As I gather the information out there on the Site - I'll add them to the list here. This takes a little time to surf the threads, so don't feel slighted if you don't see your idea pop up here as quickly as others - just send me a PM.

Campaign Thread

Campaign: Helicopters - "Death From Above"

Leader: Phantom_Major

Status: Forming Up!

Dates: Proposed: 1 Nov 2003 to 1 March 2004

Rules: Rules or lack of them as I prefer will be simple. This will be an (OOB) operation or Out Of the Box competition. Kit-bashing (taking parts from one kit and adding them to the one you are assembling for the campaign will be allowed) so will scratch-building (making your own parts or improving materials to complete your kit) however no after-market products will be allowed. My reason for this is that during the Monthly Meeting several of our younger modelers were interested in this campaign and I feel it is unfair to them to allow PE and accessories since they will not have the budget or financial clout to rush out and buy all these extras. It will in my opinion also help their skills as well as improving some of the skills we already have.

No completed kits are to be submitted however I will allow partially constructed kits. This doesn't mean all I have to do is glue the wheels on and I am finished! You must still have at least 85% of the kit to build to fall into this category.

Categories/Classes: Out of the Box and (proposed) Conversion/Scratchbuilds category
