I'll be on if one of this kits exists in 1/35:
- AB 204
- AB 205
I've never done a chopper before so that's a good chance to do one!!!

What about scale?
And can we have extra figures, like a Blues Platoon in the back if we do a Huey? I've been dying to start on my Panda 1/35 Slick and this would be a perfect time.
I'm all for it. One more thing though, what happened to the Navy Aviation group build?

Count me in too. I have the AH-64 Apache that I need to get started to keep my wife happy!
This will provide the extra "umph" that I need.

I am in too, if I can get a exemption just for Me (Hey, we did it in CWCO for the Leo 2A5 guy.) I want to do my Mi-24E and MAYBE the Mi-24F that I have BUT, I have ALL the Aftermarket I can to build them, AND I have done a small bit of scratchbuilding onthem so far. Not up to 15% of the one kit is done yet, but it is started. I can hold off until Nov to start this as well. This would really help me get off my butt and build the thing.

Phantom_Major,
You Know I'm in !!!
You had me worried you got to the diorama part late in your outline. My offering will have a few extra figures and ofcourse trees. You know I build in 1/72 so I usually add something to flesh it out.

I will wait for the next one if AM is allowed. But good idea I guess.
There is a Helicpoter Catalogue in wings over water campaign, so if anyone is interested, they can also participate there.

As I stated to PM, maybe this shoudl run into two catagories: OOb and non-OOB. This should help those who just want to build, or those who are just getting in to feel comfortable in joining-in, and allow some of us with moderate to severe brain damage (otherwise known as AMS) to add to kits, either by scratchbuilding or Aftermarket.
Point to ponder over this is the 1/48 Monogram Mi-24. Those rocket pods onthe pylons...well, suck. If I do not have to worry about modifying/scratchbuilding anything, I can work on other parts of the kit that might need my attention. Same for the exhaust "tubes".
Now I know there are many nice kits out there that could be built and stay within the originally proposed rules, but I prefer a chance to really get at the Mi-24.

Zach yes the Navla campaign is still on!!!! This is a good Idea. I was also going to suggest that those wanting to AM a helo should look in to the Wings over Water campaign. which starts at close to the same time frame. Any how I will not be able to Join the fun on this one as I'm running the other campaign. sorry STUG

Hi,
Count me in, but only if it starts after December, after the WIngs over Water campaign. I have a 1/72 Italeri Mi-24 Chopper waiting to be made, along with Academy's 1/48 AH-64D Apache.
As I haven't made a chopper until now, I'd be more than raring to give it a go :-)!
Cheers,
BP.

I had made a proposition for a japanese aircraft campaign to run after the "wins over water" campaign, but it looks loke your idea is encountering more success !
The time frame I had proposed was from dec 24th to end of march. That way, it didn't collide too much with the "wings over water" campaign.
Maybe you could use that time frame ?
Then I would change my campaign idea to an "unofficial group build" (like Dave and his TD group build).
Anyway, I'm no usual helicopter builder but I'm interested. But I'd like to be able to build with AM. I agree it would be a good idea to have two categories : with and without AM.

Rules or lack of them as i prefer will be simple. This will be an (OOB) operation or Out Of the Box competition. Kit-bashing (taking parts from one kit and adding them to the one you are assembling for the campaign will be allowed) so will scratch-building (making your own parts or improving materials to complete your kit) however no after-market products will be allowed.
Please consider making this either OOB or not OOB. Kitbashing/scratchbuilding are not OOB criteria. From the IPMS/USA judging handbook (my emphasis)
"OUT-OF-THE-BOX entries will be governed by the following rules:
"KITS. Any commercially available kit may be used. ...
"FINISH. All finishing techniques are allowed. Decals other than those included with the kit may be used. Insignia, markings, and instrument panels may be hand-painted instead of decaled. Weathering is permitted.
"CONSTRUCTION. The modeler may fill seams and gaps; sand off rivets; drill out gun ports, exhaust pipes, or other appropriate openings; thin to scale such parts as trailing edges, flaps, and doors; add rigging and antennas; and add simple tape or decal seat belts in the cockpit of an aircraft or the interior of a vehicle (NO commercial or modeler-manufactured hardware - e.g., buckles, etc.).
"IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO: vacuform, manufacture, or replace any part, or substitute parts from another kit; cut or separate canopies, surfaces, hatches, doors, etc. (no major surgery); combine a standard kit with a conversion kit; add anything other than specified on the instruction sheet except as shown in Section C above."
I have no problem with this being open or OOB, but you must be clear. What you've defined is "almost a virgin" or "a little bit pregnant".

Hey AJ, good point fromIPMS but we are discussing having 2 different catagories...OOB (as you described it) and non-OOB. This allows PM's major idea, to help newbies give a heli a try, and allows some of us horribly afflicted AMS types to have an excuse to work on a kit.
That said, if it is still too much to do both, I would definately weigh in on the OOB over the non-OOB.
And this is NOT IPMS, or I quit!!

I'm in- been wanting to build a Chinook for awhile. I think Trumpeter (or Panda) is coming out with a 1/35 Chinook pretty soon.
