Just a nudge...

It needs a Campaign Leader.
It needs a set time period - specifically Start and Stop Date.
Rules?
Categories?
Awards?
Any other specifics to help define what it is the participants should follow in building their entries.

Gunnie

Gunnie,in addition to the Barbarossa build this will be the only other group build I would be in Leader is easy to understand I can do that if it's ok with y'all Please remember that sometimes I go for 7 days or so without bein able to connect online

Time period Start say October 1st 2003 End time? Please let me know what y'all think about that part

Rules and catagories Will need help on that part Me I will be building the DML SdKfz 250/8 with the royal models update May use after market decals I don't care for the kit ones

Awards What is normally given as far as awards? If it's gonna be say a model for 1st place let me know what prize would be acceptable for it Also for 2nd and 3rd

October 1st! Eeek. I'll have to try to cool my jets on this one.
I'm very excited about this one. I went to my local hobby shop today and was allowed to dig through their ole PE sets box. Low and behold I found the Eduard M21 detail set I will use with Tamiya's M21 and Warriors (used to be Kendall's) M3 75mm GMC conversion set. Can't wait... but 3.5 months? Oh well.

Geez. I am in too. I still have the Famo which is only a little finished (the chasis). So if you guys don't mind, I will put a hold on the work on it, and wait till the cook off.

Does anyone know where we stand on this campaign? Has a leader been chosen? Are there any rules set up yet?
I know there are lots of other campaigns in the works now, so I'll try to be patient.

Not yet Ken. I've been standing by waiting for the Leader to emerge (volunteer themselves) and setup some guidelines. I posted the Campaign creation Guidelines on the main Campaign Page too.

I think the HalfTrack Campaign is right on the verge of going "official" - just a few things to nail down left...

If nobody else is prepared to step into the breach, then i will,
i'll need time to research what the rules are for this campaign, but personally i think we;re going to be limited to very late WW1 and maybe just after the Korean war, sorry usefull ex army - now converted - snow mobiles dont count!

Maybe we could tie this in with the Barbarossa campaign?

I mean at the end of the day the Russians did have a lot of armour on a lend / Lease agreement!
What do you all think?

Recon,I think it will be all nations any time period That was the suggestion I made I won't be the leader of the build as I can only get on the net once a week or so because of my job as a tractor trailer driver here in the U.S.
Martin.it's fine with me if you wanna lead I just made the original suggestion Would you also consider Israeli half tracks in the build too?

hi guys,
ive been looking at how to format the campaign idea, and to get things moving i need to know what the general consensus is on what we want to do, and when?
Bearing in mind that there are already a few campaigns which plenty of us are signed up for already i think we should suggest a campaign date that starts when the Barborossa campaign is completed.

I think that if we also leave the catergory open to just half tracks (and armoured personnell carriers - ie m113, 432, spartan, etc) of any age, nationality and from any campaign that would give us that little more choice and also free up more scope for things that we may not have seen before. ( im interested in seeing an Israeli half trck).

Chad as this was originally your idea, i think it should be yourself that has the honour of designing the campaign ribbon.

I will assume that all that have posted on this thread are up for it and will start making headway into starting the campaign after ive had some feedback on the suggestions above. So so far we have 25 interested personnell which is more than enough to start with.

Finally, Im not sure if you'll agree with this or not but since this is a new campaign i dont feel that it would be fair for all those that are currently building half tracks for the Barborossa campaign (im one of them) to enter the same model in both campaigns. 2 ribbons for one model isnt fair and it takes the fun out of thins.
Well let me know what you think guys.
Regards
Kencelot

Martin, I'm all for starting after the Barbarosa Cmpn. I understand that most people just don't have time.
I just wanted to add my thoughts on using armored carriers like the M113 and the Spartan. I dissagree with allowing them as they are not half tracks. I know that they could be viewed as the result of halftracks, but I feel they have their own place.
As far as from any country, any era is fine.
Thoughts?

Only half-tracks is my two-cents worth. There are loads of other possibilities in other campaigns... Who can begrudge us allied armor modellers a chance to recreate the poetic beauty of an M5 or "gasp" an M9 or even the dizzyingly aesthetic heights of an Israeli half-track...... #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-) (++) (++) (++) (++) #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-) (pigs trapped inside a crowd of loony half-track lovers(tm))

I'm up for this campaign too!! Sign me up...hopefully this goes "official". Look forward to it. (my 2 cents only...if its called "HalfTrack" it should be only half tracks) Anyway....will keep looking for "official word".
