Amazing work,
You could turn around the foremost hull storage locker. It opened the other way around.

Thanks a lot!
Yes tamiya missed that thing with the stowage rack, but if i remake it I know I will be tempted to remake all of them just to have them all equal I don't know how I would manage to build the things that "locks" the rack. The straps are ok to make but the locks are a little bit trickier. But thanks anyway for the comment!

I like what you're doing. I have the same kit, in about the same shape, and have started a similar process. I'm going to keep an eye on this for motivation.

I like it quite a bit. Your skills with the added detailing is considerable.

Hello there! It's been a long time since I didn't gived some updates so I decided to do a little bit of work on my T-72. I've added handles on various spot on the hull and primed the model. I'd like to get some advices from you as I've noticed some more tiny holes that the acetone had done; can I still put some diluated putty to fix this? Can I sand certain areas?(at least I'll have to remove a little bit of paint on the air intakes) I think primer paint looks a little bit too thick... I've chosed spraycan primer that we can found in hardware store (for cars I think) wich works quite well, but I found it thick a little bit, what's your opinion about this?
See ya!

Thank you very much!
I'll wait until I get my turret from blast models and my miniarm track set to post new pictures, there's only a little bit of puttying to do on the hull, everything is pretty much done (for the moment )
Thanks for yout support!

Hello there folks!
I seek some motivation to finish this model. I'm happy with the result I'm getting with this kit, but there is so much more detail I'd like to add. Unfortunatly, these would be very hard for me to make. ( replace the fuel tank brackets, add fuel pipes, add the missing pieces that goes in the middle of the rear handles just on top of the lights etc..)
What do you suggest? Can this model be accurate enough without those detailes added?

This is a great Salvation job! Incredible to see what you have done to the old model.
As to your motivation, my personal view would be that if you are going to add the rather pricey Blast models turret then it might be nice to further detail the hull to compliment the highly detailed turret. Many of the details to add are very simply and can be made very easily from scratch.

Thanks for the advice, I came up with those interrogations as I was checking your fuel pipes on your build! It sure make a nice addition to the overall model.
As you've said, it's much more satisfying to add pricey resin updates on a model knowing you've put a lot of hours to scratch build half of all the detailling job
If I can ask you some question about how did you build it, I would like to know how come tamiya put some cone shaped pieces attached to the pieces where the fuel pipes are under (you have removed them I think) I have already seen 'em on T-90 pics but never on a T-72...
Are the plastic tube you've used can be found in a modelling shop? If so I'll try to build the fuel systemas well.
If university wasn't taking that much time I'll be much more into this build
Thanks again!

If you are referring to those two parts that fit on the inside of the 2 rear fuel tanks im not sure what they are, it appears to be some sort of bracket and a stake, but I have no idea of its purpose and on the T-72 reference I was copying the stake was removed leaving just the cylindrical bracket. I'll check my references to see if the stake is also fitted on T-72's.
As to the plumbing attachments, I just used the rubber tube that comes in the Tamiya kit for making the fuel drum hoses, and cut a suitable sized bit off and slid it over the metal rod fuel line. Another option is to get some electrical wire and pull the wire core out leaving a hollow tube. The small brackets on the attachments are made from lead foil.
Please feel free to ask any more questions, I have tons of reference pics as well and useful links.

Please do...Rob has done wonders for me for my upcoming T-72 build. I blame him for making me a broke college student.

It doesn't look that bad, in fact I think you can work with the stripped surface if you want to. You'll need to do a lot of work though.

Hi all!
It's been quite a time since I didn't touch my T-72....arghh college life!
Here's a few pictures of what I've done this week end, using the technique afv_rob shared (Thanks a lot by the way). I'm glad I primed the hull, as I can see more "bubbles" acetone did on the plastic. I'll cover that up with more diluted putty later.
Cheers!
