Hi all, I am just starting my first conversion. It's a bit anxiety-producing! I have found two beautiful build logs on this forum, and I appreciate the pictures very much. I have also found the very informative kit review on this forum.
What I'm hoping for is a bit of advice on things I might not see coming in a conversion. I have some limited experience with Resin, and a bit more with PE. But, matching up the Trumpeter ASLAV instructions with the Real Model instructions is a bit tough.
Any advice on where the pitfalls are for this conversion?
Thanks in advance,
QT

Depending on what kit you are using have a read both of my reviews....
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/4595
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/4321
Just take your time and test fit all the parts before gluing them if possible.
Remember, this is a conversion kit....not an out of box kit...a modeller will usually have to add extra details and make some additional modifications.
The benefit to using the ASLAV kit as the base kit is that you can use the turret bins which will save you from having to bend and cut wire and mesh.
Good luck with your Coyote!

Try shooting a pm to ldsh recce boy (Anthony Sewards). He was helping a local club member with the tweaks required to bring the ASLAV to Coyote specs using the RM set.

Jason and Miloslav,
Thank you both very much for the reference photos! Somehow I missed that link in your review, Jason, but those photos will be VERY helpful. I re-read the review as well, and a few things jumped up at me....
Miloslav, of the many great things I noticed on your model, I have a question about two of them. Did you make the bolt-on points for the additional armour out of styrene tube? If so, what size? Also, how did you do the anti-slip covering (if that is what I'm seeing)? Did you use tamiya putty and an old brush?
Thanks again for the help, fellas!

Hey Quentin,
You can follow along here Coyote build.
If you have any questions don't be shy and post them in the thread. The RM conversions are not for the weak lol, but the end result is really stunning. Take your time and don't rush. If you need any detail pics just let me know.
cheers
