Hi Greg!
Either you can go for the Tamiya Leopard 2A6 kit, get the Eduard slat armor set , and the conversion set from Strom Miniatures to add the specific canadian stuff (anti-IED armor, turret roof boxes and antennae mounts, etc.), or you can wait to see if the announced Hobby Boss kit is acceptable and accurate when it reaches the shelves...
The last option seems to be the cheaper one, the first one seems to be the most accurate

I picked up a Hobby Boss leopard A6EX. Also a Revell A6M. Would that work?

Greg, the Hobby Boss Leopard 2A6 EX won't work for a canadian Leopard 2A6 because the canadian 2A6 are from german bundeswehr.
The Leo 2A6 from Revell is not the choose, the Tamiya Leo2A6, kit number 35271, is the best base you can find, but it is more expensive.
I would take the Tamiya kit, because the conversion to a canadian Leopard 2A6M will take many time, many after market products and many money. And all this for the cheap Revell tank??? No!

My Leopard model in that list of links Harold posted is deleted due to me moving my pictures from one album to another.
If you want to see the model go into my Photobucket account its under Chris Jerrett. You'll find it there and a few more Leo builds.
The Tamiya kit of the Leopard 2 is the one you want to use to make the Canadian Leopard.
I would recommend you build the HB kit you have to get familiar with the Leopard then takle the Canadian version using the Tamiya kit.
Good luck.

Or you could wait for Hobby Boss to come out with theirs for about 1/3 the price of the kit, and all the resin and photoetch

At this point, they are saying a 2010 release, however since all we have seen is a CAD drawing....if it is 2010, it will be late 2010. However.....now that the Trumpeter Chally II with the slat is on the market, it could pave a quicker release for the Leo. HB, already has the base, they just have to do the additions to the base 2A6 kit, and the slat.
Is the HB kit going to be perfect? Hell no....but for those that don't have any experience with PE and resin, or don't want to spend the money out for it, it makes an excellent alternative.

Hey Scott,
There is far more than a CAD drawing of the Hobby Boss Leopard 2A6M.....

WOW, I looked all through the photos from Nuremberg, I don't know how I managed to miss that....OK, stand corrected. However is that what is going to be released? Or is it just something they threw together to further highlight that it will be coming out in the future?
Suppliers have no date on their release as of yet.
As far as details missing.....like I said, its not going to be a perfect kit, but will be great for those that don't have the skills, or just don't want to tackle, or spend the money on the resin and PE sets you need to convert the Tamiya kit.

If it's close it is fine for me. I am getting too old to worry about the small details!

Current Hobby Boss Leopard model kits require a major amount of work to get up to the level of a Tamiya kit. If you are accustom to the quality of Tamiya or Dragon you will likely get frustrated with the HB Leo. That being said many of the HB kit being released these days are quit good,so if they have done a new mold for the Can. Leo it might be worth a look.
For the time being go with the Tamiya/Storm/Eduard combo its a enjoyable build and not as difficult as some modelers think it is.
Greg about my Photo Bucket page it is cjerrett not Chris Jerrett and the album is called Slat Leo. I'm sorry for posting the wrong info.
