Inexpensive, but accurate artillery in 1/35th (of any nation), I'm all over that!!!!! Resicast has many of the guns on this list but they are resin (and very nice) and that means $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Yes to a new 6 lb gun . ( did the Russians get this thru lend lease ? That might be a plus to get MiniArt to do a few )
Slightly but the Soviets built their own version of the 57mm and MiniArt makes it.
The T48 Half-Track with the British 6pdr or U.S. M1 57mm mounted was Lend Leased to the Soviets, not sure of the total numbers used.

Hi Al
Great post Al. You can count me in too. A big hole in the market here.
Earlier you mentioned the Matador and other tractors, ammo and gun crews.
What about Portees? CMP, Ford, Bedford? Just think of the spin offs from using the cab and chassis. New Ford, Chevvy, Morris FATs for the 25 pdr. And what about a Crusader Gun Tractor for the 17 pdr? Lower hull already available!
Just a thought.
Cheers

...geez, what odds Italeri would re-release their 6 pdr separate from the Bedford...
as well it's Resicast that has a natty 6 pdr, and a US 57mm... in resin, word on the street I'll have to give something up to get these... NOT HAPPENING, folks

Hi Al
there is noone better on this earth to lead this type of campaign. It is a buyer's market on many items these days, but luxuries like model kits should surely be catering to popular demand so I'm with you on this !
a 17 pounder would be most welcome from my end, but I must admit I do fancy some of the larger stuff too. Prime mover wise - I kind of got into the Scammel when we were at that duxford show. Especially when I saw that the big girl was still running !!
The 25 pounder kit is a bit antique though it comes in a fairly complete package with the quad and ammo trailer...anyone looking for more information on how 25 pounders operated should read the book "Guns of War" by George Blackburn
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guns-War-George-Blackburn/dp/1841192104/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1269676662&sr=8-1
one of my favourite WWII accounts and an absolutely stunning book.

What with the manufacturers needing to maximize molds and all, I think the Sexton and Priest would go hand in hand, along with a new 25 pounder and crew. Maybe Tasca or Dragon will modify their Sherman molds for that. For mortars and light guns, I expect Miniart will save the day, although AFV Club have a few projects in the wings. Maybe they will add the 25 pdr next to their 105.

Hi Guys,
Thank you all for taking the time to drop in and join the call for more British Artillery pieces.
It's odd that we have not even got 3 inch and 4 inch mortars never mind a good basic 6pdr. Those would be a good start, but I'd love to see some of the heavies coming out too.
For those with thoughts on Prime Movers and Trucks to tow the artillery then if you haven't already done so drop in and sign up to the More British Trucks Campaign which outlines some of what is missing and don't forget to add your request for trailers!!
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/128680#1064993
My Mum always said if you don't ask you don't get. The spin off from this is in figures and ammo sets. AFV Club or DML wouuld be my preference for the artillery, the mortars should be do-able by the figure manufactuirers.
Thanks

We also need a NEW Universal Carrier (Loyds or Windsors for preference) which would also help...
Great shout on the UC Jim - the most numerous AFV in history with only the old Tamiya kit representing it. Just think how many variants DML could get out of it?
New tool 2, 6 & 17lbers seem like a blindingly obvious gap to me. Vulcan may do a 2lber, but I'd never even heard of them till I read this thread!

Hi Neil,
Personaly I'd like to see a Loyd Carrier for towing the 6pdr, rather than a new UC although that would be nice. The Loyd along with the T 16 were the most common vehicles used for towing the 6pdr.

Count me in for your campaign Al.
There was a time I would have thought 'pigs might fly' when asking for Brit stuff, but the last 18 months have shown that when the manufacturers make it, there is definitely a market!

Hi Guys,
Just bumping this one up again,
the 25pdr form IWM London
Whilst cleaning out some boxes in my shed yesterday I came across the Tamiya 6pdr I built when I started modelling again, wondered where it had gone
Still looking for more support. 771 hits so far.

Hey Al,
Thanks for the links, some are totally new to me !!!
One thing I'd love to see is a chart or book that clears up what markings were used by the RA for vehicles and field pieces.
It all gets to be a jumble depending on who the units were attached to or used by: Army or Corp, Division or Brigade, Regiment or Battery.
Who was given anti-aircraft (towed and/or SP), anti-tank (towed and/or SP), field or heavy artillery units ?
The RA site is a start but a book that sorts it out would be great.
Cheers

Hi John,
Derek's site is really useful there, but often the problem is that artillery tends to move around a lot from one Division to another. This is particularly true during the N African campaign where units got attached here and there fore a few weeks or months and then back to where they were or off somewhere else so you often seen unusual markings.
If you take a bit of time on Derek's site you should find most of what you're looking for.
For NWE British Tanks in Noprmandy gives a good breakdown of RA units in the early campaign, of course these switched around and moved later so it's then down to time and place and checking you reference. It can get confusing though!!

I agree it is about time we had some new additions to British and Commonwealth Artillery. It is something long overdue and would like to see some of the pieces not already available be issued first before replacing what we already have.

Alan, all the big guns would be welcome but for me my interest rests with the mortars.
A nice 3" and UC and a 4.2" with Windsor
Mind you a 17lb and Crusader gun tractor
We can only hope.

Hi Luciano,
It still amazes me that we have no 3inch and 4 inch mortar figure sets, like having no Vickers MG team in plastic.
Well you'd need tractors to pull the heavies now wouldn't you
Thanks for joining in.

Hi Guys,
Not plastic but some interesting early artillery developments coming along from Resicast if you haven't already picked up on them.
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/156651&page=1
Also the news on the Soviet 76mm from Bronco is an interesting development, what do you think is a new 6pdr possible?

Hi Guys,
Well you will all by now have read the excellent news fron Bronco on the 17 Pdr.
Poses the question of 'what's next' lol, lol and how about some crews, must be a good figure opportunity there plus of course something to tow it with.
These are excellent time for us Allied modellers and I'm looking forward to developments and also getting the 17pdr.
Thanks Bronco.

Well, It's bracketed now with the start (2 pdr) and the finish (17 pdr). A nice slew of 6 pdr variants including the US M1 would really be the icing on the cake. I have a picture in my head of various Mk's of 6 pdr with desert/Winter /NWE /US and Para crews.
I hope miniart offers an ammo set for the 17 pdr along with a nice crew
Cheers
