vodnik ,i did leave off the lower hull armor to prevent fit problems . i cheated and used a small screw to attach the plow , just in case this was in-accurate so it would be easy to remove

That was clever!
I hope Sabot still has the TM with mine plow installation instructions for M60, will be able to find it and will scan some pictures for us after he is back from vacation. I was only able to find TM for Abrams mine plow myself, so mounting it on M60 is still a mistery

Photo identifies the vehicle as an M60A3, this is incorrect. It is actually a USMC M60A1 RISE/Passive. Easy to tell since it lacks the thermal shroud and the Marines never used the A3 and the Army never operationally mounted ERA on the A3.

Even though this is a very old thread, I want to make a historical correction to this posters' comment for future reference.

The Marine Corps actually did receive a handful of M60A3's from the Army during Desert Shield/Storm: I ran across one after we retrograded back to Kuwait and talked to the Tank Commander about it. There were quite a few Army M60A3 tanks being ferried into Saudi Arabia via US Army Landing Craft Utility (yes, the Army had and still has Runnymede-class LCUs, which surprised the heck out of me!): there were a whole stash of them on the beach at Al Mishab (I had no idea where they were coming from as it was a dreary, foggy day on that beach). Since the Army decided to go all M1A1s, the fresh-from-depot green-painted M60A3s were simply staged on the beachhead, with several given to each Marine Tank Battalion in country. They were distributed to the line companies and mostly used for spotting due to their thermal sights (TTS), which were actually better than the first generation thermals (TIS) on M1A1s at the time. (M60A1s only had simple light amplification night vision sights). The crews weren't given any formal training on the A3s but the mechanics did install the ERA kits to them as there is no physical differences between A1's and A3's preventing ERA installation.

As a relatively recent (2011) retired Marine Tanker/Desert Storm/OIF vet, I had the fortune of training on an M60A3 at a Tank Commander Course providing by the Army at Boise, Idaho that was opened to Marines in the beginning of 1990, just before Desert Shield, so I immediately recognized the A3 from it's distinctive barrel thermal shroud when I came across it at an assembly area in Saudi Arabia and had to talk to the crew to find out how they were issued it (my tank company arrived via the 5th MEB out of Camp Pendleton so we had all A1s).

Just a little history for anyone interested...
