After the little detour with the mud guide all that was left to do on the build was add a little dry pigment in certain areas- some mud and black smoke around the smoke grenade launchers and exhausts. Then some fuel stains, using the Mig stuff, were added around the rear filler ports and a little on part of an access area on the rear roof. A pencil was then run around some of the edges on the BTR to give a metallic sheen.

Once that was done the BTR was mounted onto the base. The base itself was then mounted on a wood plinth.

I then, correctly I'm hoping, used a translator to write out 'BTR-80A in Chechnya' in Russian- 'БТР-80А ин Чечнъа'.

I measured the area I had on the wood plinth for a plaque and cut a piece of plastic-card to size before using a computer and a font and size I liked to print out the title in Russian. This was then traced and re-traced onto masking tape covering the plastic card. I cut around the words with a scalpel and sprayed the plaque black before removing the mask. Now its not perfect but I think, in a way, it works well. Some satin varnish sealed the paint and the plaque was glued on to the wooden plinth.

So thats the build finished.

Thanks a lot for your support throughout this project, its always greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

To be precise, the "in" with a lowercase letter:
Если быть точным, то "в" с маленькой буквы:
"БТР-80А в Чечне"

Олег, я прекрастно умею переводить с Английского
Про букву, только сейчас заметил... Видать шифт зажал
Oleg is right! I'm a little bit wrong

So it should be 'БТР-80А в Чечне'?
I want to make sure I get it right before I re-do the name-plate!

Hi Karl,

How did I miss this one? First time I seen this was at the IMSS show in Dublin 2 weeks ago, May the 27th! It really blew me away, and obviously the Judges too as this took a well deserved Silver medal in what was a very highly contested and model filled AFV category!!! Well done Karl, it was a pleasure to meet you, and see this in the flesh, and now to enjoy the Blog too
Bravo mate!

Glen
