Vehicle Mounted Mine Detector (VMMD), These Huskies are made of heavy metal, and are designed to survive blasts from detonations such as those from improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Quoted Text
“The Husky, equipped with an Interim Vehicle Mounted Mine Detector to detect hidden metallic explosives, is similar in construction to the mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicle, also known as the MRAP, with a V-shaped undercarriage to direct the blast away from the vehicle and protect its driver. Its single-operator cockpit is fitted with armored steel, ballistic windows and an on-board automatic fire extinguisher. The vehicle detects IEDs with its IVMMD, which employs both metal detection and ground penetrating radar sensors to find the deadly IEDs”
Well I’m finally getting around to build this project since seeing it on the military channel. It’s going to be 1/35th made from evergreen plastic. My research took around two weeks to gather up, scale and draw up plans.
There are two Husky’s out, the single operator MK III which is the one I’m building and the Husky 2G with has two operators.
Down fall with this project is that I really don’t have reference for the interior cab, so I may end up guess-at-mating this area.
For tires I’ll be using the resin set for the Buffalo MRAP version. The Husky also has two fender types, on rounded over the tire and the second squared angled…which I’ll be doing.
For some of the repeated I’ll be making cast molds for those multiple parts in resin.
More to come,
Happy Modeling,
Joe

Nice start. You should have let me know - it would have been easy enough to open the door and take a few shots. Maybe in a week or two I'll get more if you need them.

I've just uploaded a 37 photo walkaround of it for you on my Photobucket site.
Between mine and Steve's photos you should have more than enough to do it accurately. A lot of mine are from angles you won't usually see. Taken for the modeler, of course.

I took a 40 hour class on the MKII and III when I was at the TF Iron Claw Academy at Liberty. I THINK I MIGHT still have the TMs somewhere. If those will help let me know.. I have a COUPLE of pictures, not many. Either way, I really look forward to seeing the finished product.

A great start on a very interesting looking vehicle... never seen it before.
Do you draw the plans using CAD or something like that, or do you use the old ink pen and T-Square? And did you have some small plans to go by?
Looking forward to seeing this project progress.

Thanks Ciro!
As for casting it well I do think about casting some of my projects. However it’s costly, not so much the rubber and resin but the equipment is. I would need vacuum and pressure pots. I would invest in such equipment but they (resin kits) would have to sell. I know other who made up conversions that many wanted but they were not selling enough.
Happy Modeling,
Joe

I understand but
I also think that you can be helped by someone that just has the equipment to do these thing. Then you can divide the cash.
Two years agò I bought a conversion for the t-69II from Andy Taylor, you know who is him and he casted his first and second batch at Airdalecasting.
There was a pre-order list and some time to wait.More guys in the list more cash for you and also a less expensive product...
For your work/model I can wait....you do great thing...and I'm sure that you'll have a great pre-order list if you do that.
Hope to see soon your progress....you are very talented.

Hey Joe,
Looking very good as usual.
Were there no top views in the walkaround I sent? I haven't actually looked at it in a while, but I'm sure there were.
Also, check your PMs. I have something that will really help this build.
