Friends,
The last couple of weeks there has been a lot of talking going on about how to take the Campaigns into 2004 from here on. The name of a possible Campaign that I brought up time and time again in these talks was the name of "Market Garden".
As we all know the Campaign Central Command decided not to allow new "Official Site Campaigns" in 2003., but Jim also stated that "he was NOT planning such limitations for the alternate laguage sites".
With this in mind I wrote "Well a simple conclusion comes to mind .....
I'll end my journey into the Market Garden Campaign series right here, and I will take the idea with me to the Dutch forum.
Market Garden here we come"
And this is exactly what we did..... we took the idea of a Market Campaign with us to the Dutch Language Site and started up a Campaign called "Remember Market Garden". This resulted in a lot of fast, but very good and constructive talks with the Dutch speaking community over here. The talks resulted in a very loud YES !!!!!! (actually it was a loud "JA !!!!", but who cares ) to the idea of a Marked Garden Campaign in the Dutch Language Site. 14 Dutch speaking members signed up for the Campaign !!!...... for such small countries like Belgium and The Netherlands this is quite a large number of members that get involved.
And this is where we stand today :
We will have an official Campaign called "Remember Market Garden" on the Dutch Language Site.
The rules and regulations have been made and we are now waiting for those rules to be published on the Dutch site.
So the Campaign is on !! But on the Dutch Language Site.
Since our Market Garden banners caught the eyes of our international members, we've been asked "a million times" if members of the international community could join in too........ Wel the answer to this question is .......
YES, YOU CAN !!!
When the rules and regulations are revealed on the Dutch Language Site, we will start a new topic in the Campaign Forum. In this topic we will provide the rules and regs in English and offer you the chance to sign in on the Campaign. Signing in will have to take place in the Dutch Language Section, but we'll guide you
Next to that topic our "Remember Market Garden" headquarters will translate all official documents about the Campaign in English, so that those who are interested can join us in this Campaign to remember.
What has "Remember Market Garden" got to offer :
- A wonderful Group Build while sharing fun, techniques and atmosphere
- A growing list of links and books dealing with the original Operation Market Garden
- A weekly "/newspaper" where the "progress of our troops" will be reported in words and pictures
- A special Campaign ribbon for those who participated
- A chance to wear the beautiful Market Garden sig banners with us
- The possibility to develop the official Campaign Ribbon / Medal
So if you want to join....you can, just wait for the official publications in the Campaign Forum.
We hope that you will join us in this "Campaign to remember"

Cool!
Am I in????---"Ja"!!
I look forward to this one, and for being able to participate with our Dutch friends in their forum. That in itself is a true first for me, and adds a special incentive to an already wonderful idea.
Great job on getting this one off the ground. Congrats.

Nope - not genealogical connection for me. Very diverse background though, French exchange students, German exchange students, Sister fluent in German...
and the Big A has definitely kept me aware of how small a world it is and that my little world is not at the center of it.

Hi there Danny
What dates do you plan for the Campaign? I'd certainly be interested in joining, if there's a way of doing a 1/48 scale aircraft... :-)
As I expect you can guess, there's a lot of interest in your Remember Market Garden Campaign on A-UK. :-)
I'm trying to devote a section of A-UK to Campaigns and Group Builds so it would be great to include as many details there as possible, to keep everyone up to date. :-)
All the best
Rowan

Hi guys, sounds like alot of fun. I'm sure I'll sign up for the tour of duty. I really envy you guys being able to walk the actual battlesites. My last name is Vanlandingham and as I was growing up I was told that it was a Dutch/German name. Maybe one of you kind gents on the Dutch Language Site can tell me if that is a common name over there. There is not a whole lot of us over here and I know very little of my ancestery.

Welcome Savage !!
I hope we have the rules and regulations online after the weekend. The rules and regs are ready, but it takes a bit of work to prepare the Dutch Site for our first Campaign in Dutch....
So a few more days of patience ....and then we can start our research and preparations big time.
