I have the Dragon BRDM-2 and found it to be AMAZING. Looks like the SA-9 is the same except with a diffirent turret etc. I hope the SA-9 will yield similar results and looks like an outstanding little kit and was a bargin of only £18 from the Glasgow ModelFest. The AMT was also from Glasgow ModelFest. It is in original sealed bags in original box and was only £8.50. It appears to have acceptable detail. Any idea about the fitting of parts. My friend got me the Alanger kits from Telford Show this year. Think they were only £6 each. ESCi T-72 only £8 from a military book website. The EE BRDM-1 looks very good, with a reasonable interior provided.
P.S. the T-90 is only £22.49 from Wonderland Models in Edinburgh. I am going there tomorrow and plan on getting one with some of my xmas money!!!

Sometimes you gotta gift yourself a little something, because we deserve it right?
Well, my day off just happened to be today (day after Christmas) which I was planning to go the the LHS from which I got a nice little Christmas card along with a special discount card a few days ago. Well, they just happened to be having an after Christmas sale with many kits marked way down. So let's just say I walked out with 5 kits.
DML T-72 w/ ERA
Skif Strela 10SV
Trumpeter PT-76B
Skif T-80UD (Profi Pack=Eduard PE bits)
Italeri Jagdpanther Tiger P Elephant
Might have walked out with a few more if I had taken off the passenger seat on my little motorcycle and brought a few more bungie cords....

No kits (I took care of that myself) but I did get an ultrasonic cleaner. Boy, is my airbrush clean!
A word of warning from one who found out the hard way - DON'T but Tamiya airbrush cleaner in the water with the plastic basket, as it ate the plastic something fierce.
Happy New Year to all
Rob

heads up on ultrasonic cleaners, only use clean tap water.
if you find an item that is oily/greasy, use a drop or two of liquid dishsoap and/or use the heater function on the ultrasonic if it features this.
make sure items don't touch one another in the basket to keep them from rubbing during cleaning. take the needle out of an airbrush to clean it easier.
never use any other cleaning agent other than tap water and dishsoap. regular tap water on its own will clean almost anything.
plastic baskets absorb 20% of ultrasonic energy whereas metal baskets only absorb 15%, if anyone was wondering what the extra money gets you.
only watches rated waterproof for 30m or better can go in and eyeglasses with laminate coatings cannot be cleaned.
hope this helps. cheers, bd.

Well I think you'll have to work a lot to have good replicas, but however it could be fun indeed improving that old rough kits.
Regarding the T-55 AMT let me know. I have lots of references which could help you. Its fit isn't bad, but kit has some huge errors. (turret is 1,5 mm too flat, lower hull is rough, suspensions arms are set in a wrong position, one of the external fuel tanks is smaller than the other ones , engine deck is good to represent a Chinese type 69 it isn't good at all to represent a T-55 because hatch hinges and grilles are totally different ....)
.... If I were you I'd start building Zvezda T-90
I wish some companies finally will produce new kits fpr BRDM-1 , T-72 and BMD-1 (Trumpeter! Where are you?...)
Cheers and good luck

Got my shiney new Zvezda T-90 on the 27th, and I must say WHAT A KIT. It is packed full of bits and has reallt detailed tracks. They are link and length but the teeth are molded seperatley in strips. No P.E. to be found, although I dont think you'll need it with a kit of such quality. Best part is the price, only £22.49, from Wonderland Models.
I also agree that Trumpeter should finish off their Soviet line. I'd like to see a newer BRDM-2, BMP-1, BMP-2, a ZSU-57-2 and mabey some recovery vehicles.
P.S.
I would be greatful of any T-55 info
Cheers
