Hi Guys,
My point about the Iraqi tank photos is that somebody out there (believe me, there will be some), will think those are Syrian tanks and next thing it will appear on the net elsewhere. Obviously we want to present a factual historical database for Gary and anyone else who happens to be following this along.
As for your last photo of the T-62 on it's side with the wavy camo lines, that is indeed Syrian (not Egyptian) from the Yom Kippur war and it was knocked out at the anti-tank ditch in the "Valley of Tears". Here are more photos of the same tank from another angle and the assault bridge in place that was destroyed by Israeli counter-fire. A bonus is the color photo of the bridge which shows a camo pattern on it's sides.
Enjoy,
ED/ Frogman13

@BBD468 – Gary,
I had noticed your build log some time ago but just have not had the time to sit long enough to read through it, until tonight. Looking good, I mean real good! You’ve got a great audience following along with some interesting history and photographs to keep you moving along. What a treat. Super job on the track sag and fuel lines and as usual a clean build. Looking forward to seeing more of what you’ll be doing on the chassis before you move on to the turret.

Yes, that's it. Thanks a million for the pics Ed. I think is an interesting camo indeed
Regarding the Valley of tears, here some other pics taken from this site

Gary you're welcome. As Ed rightly said, syrian t-62s are rare beast indeed.I hope that this collection of pics could be useful for you and for the modellers who want to depict a middle eastern t-62
I know, that probably is quite an off topic, but anyway modern syrian T-62s, have an interesting dark gray-blue camo scheme which is visible in these pics
http://milinme.wordpress.com/2011/12/22/syrian-t-62-camouflage/
PS. Gary, your hose clamps are great. I hope I'll be able to do something similar on my t-62 and t-55. Thanks for sharing your build

Hi all,
Ed, and Mauro, Thanks again for the fantastic pics. the tank in the ditch with the stripes is very intersting to me. that would be a difficult paint scheme to replicate. i really like the blue, grey/green camo job on Jesse's T-55. would like to do one like that sometime.
Eddy,
thanks for dropping in man and for the kind words. this build is so much fun having all the history and references coming my way. i started this build not having a clue about modern cold war type armor. but im intrigued by action on the Golan Heights. a David vs. Goliath if you will. anyways, its a blast!
Made some progress this morning. gonna take a break and go see a movie with my sister. heres what i have done this morning.
Thanks for looking!

Matt im not sure what guage the wire is. i have several sizes of multistrand wire, brass wire, and solid core wire. sorry man!
Thanks again all!
Gary

Hey Gary
How did you attached the wires together? Did you weld them or did you use the glue? What kind of glue did you use?
Is a clean and very good job

Hey gentlemen,
thanks again guys! you are all so kind and supportive and i thank you all for that! i used superglue to attatch everything together. my cheap soldering iron is a gonner so trash time for it.
Phil, i did make a jig with a piece of wood and nails. i just keep getting the wrong shape and so i wood pull the nails reposition them and try again. wasnt on top of my game for sure.
Thanks again gentlemen!

Very nice build so far, keep the high level
For modelers that perhaps not aware and interested in the subject and want read and see more details on the subject I can recommend my book "T-62 tank in the Israeli-Arab wars".

There is two nice pictures at DoD that might be interesting for anyone wanting to do the sand-green-gray cammo. Althought the photos are of a BMP-1 and a ZSU-23-4, and that the sun light at the photo op might play slightly with the colors, they should be good as reference. Just click and download the 2MB hig res versions:
