Jesse great start is ther any way to just strip the white and save the bace paint????
dave

After thinking about it some more, I'm going to try and spray down the model with iso alcohol. that should take the white off, while leaving the base yellow and camo colors, since they've got a layer of dullcoat over them. I'm also interested to see if I can get any interested effects using the alcohol alone.

Do you think it will work since the white paint has had a chance to cure? I'm interested to see how this turns out.

We'll see. I'm stripped cured Tamiya off with windex before, which worked fine. I'll have to see if the alcohol will work.

Unfortunately, modeling is getting sidelined a bit this weekend, as I have to spend some quality time at the office to finish a project due early next week. This is mainly because I'm taking a vacation starting Tuesday, so I need to finish my stuff by end of day on Monday.

I'm guessing I may not get to this until I get back on the 29th.

Ok.... excuse the long absence. We had a week long trip to Houston for a wedding, and I've been trying to catch up with 'life' ever since. The wife and kid both had to see doctor's this weekend, so I finally got some time to sit down and work on the half track.

My original goal was to just strip the white paint, and start over with the white wash. I used straight rubbing alcohol, and started brushing it on with a pretty large soft brush. What I found was that it would soften the white, but really wouldn't cut through the multiple layers of dull coat (lacquer base). And the results are actually pretty cool!

I've also just started doing some more of the detail painting. Tracks assembled, and base coats of paint. Here goes the pictures.

Hey Jesse, That turned out nice!! I'm glad to see it worked out for you. Once some filters and washes go down, it'll tie it all together and make it look sweet!

Thanks guys. I'm actually fairly pleased with the finish so far. Obviously with zero weathering at all on the lower chassis, it looks kinda odd, but I think John is right and it will tie in together nicely

Well, I'm calling this one done. Tried to go a little heavier on the weathering than I normally do to branch out a little.

Let me know what you think!

Hi Jesse,

Great job man! You turned this badboy around and made a fantastic vehicle. Love the weathering and the tracks and running gear look awsome. Well done man!

Whats next Jesse?

@ Gary... thanks for the comments man. I'm happy with it. As for what's next. I'm still slowly building the Bronco Chaffee for our AMPS club. And I need to start something else, but I'm not exactly sure what I want to do next. The options are Tamiya Cromwell, Dragon T-34/76, or a couple of different Tasca Shermans.

@ John... thanks for the comments! right back at ya.
