Mike, Nicely done, another Sherman in the books. Your weathering has that used but not abused look. That's more how I like my models to look.

Okay I’ve finally started to paint my Sherman after working on some other projects I have. I have the base paint completed, decaled and some filters applied. I know the markings and placement are not 100% correct, but this is a build just for myself to add to my going collection. Also done basic painting of the tracks and tarps are done to prep for the weathering stage.

Christopher, love the paintwork, she looks really sharp. Is this a 'what if' piece or is she based on an actual pic? I ask because you got an early DV with 3 piece diff cover with remanufactured features like the added armor and the late 75mm setup, plus a British box to boot. Just wondering if this beast actually existed.

Thanks Pedro and Joel for the comments.

Pedro the finish is loosely based on a Canadian Sherman belonging to A Sqn GGHG in Italy 1944. I only have a color profile to go by and made some guess on some parts of the build since I could not find any actual photos of the real tank.

Here is the profile I was working with

Pedro,
Thanks again for your help!

I picked these up at a local hobby shop that was having a sale both come with two sets of suspensions and road wheels and of course the two turrets in the "PTO"

A quick look over the kits and I think I will swap turrets and use the PTO kit for the Firefly it's a better detail match for the Firefly turret than the Firefly kit. Anyways I know have lots of options.

Cheers Rob.

Here's an update on my Tasca M32B1 with the Voyager p/e set. Hinges cables, tools, tool boxes, front hull details, wire rungs for the a-frame etc, etc. Hopefully first coat of primer isn't too many days away!!

Don't even have to read who the author is to know that Terry's going crazy again with the PE.

Everyone is doing so great!

You should have seen his M16 build, or was it an M3A1 Terry?

Anyway, Terry knows his way around PE.

From what I've seen of Terry's work, it must have been almost all PE.

To me the quintessential Sherman has always been the M4A1 75mm with the small hatch hull.

Here's the Tasca M4A1 I plan to build for this campaign:

My uncle who's still living was in Hq. Coy. CCA 4th Armored Div. I'd like to build this kit to represent an actual vehicle from his unit, but so far can't find a photo of any 75mm M4A1 of the 4th Armd. Div. in my references. If anyone has such a pic or can point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful.

PS: I just ordered Armored Attack 1944 by Steven Zaloga. Apparently it's just a big picture book, so maybe it's in there!

Ed, welcome to the campaign. I'm looking forward to your build as I'm a recovering Shermanholic.

Terry, I checked out your M16 build thread, and you've got more PE there then I thought was possible. Was a great build for sure. Also loved your work station. I have a whole bedroom dedicated my computers/modeling, but never got around to doing much more with it yet. Need to look into a reclamation center, if one is around here.

Hey Joel

Check Craigslist under" furniture" and "free stuff." When offices remodel they let their old stuff go cheap and/or free!

Aw, nuts! I hoped that Armored Attack 1944 by Steven Zaloga would have a decent pic of a 4th Armored Div. M4A1 (75mm). The only example of one is on p.285 showing Shermans fording a canal in Lorraine, and the M4A1 is in the background.

Repeat, if you know a decent pic of a 4th Armored Div. M4A1 (75mm), please let me know.

Quick update. The dozer assembly has been attached to the Sherman. The kit instructions were a bit vague but it wasn't too hard to figure out. I did have to trim down the dover arms so they would clear the drive sprockets and track.

I'll probably start weathering ans such on it in the next few days. This is to represent a post war Sherman being pressed into a reconstruction role, clearing roads. I'll cover the main gun and coaxial. I may just leave off the hull MG. I probably willleave off the 50cal as well. The longterm plan is to eventually have this vehicle in the act of clearing a street of rubble while people are milling around and such. I plan on including a Studebaker dump truck in as well.

Thanks Joel. I'm going to go and look at a couple of pieces of heavy equipment to see how they wear. I'll probably try to wrap this one up in the next week or so.
