I am not sure but based on the sprue shots it looks like we may also build a Model 1975 out of the box (thermal sleewe on the gun, fuel tanks, etc).

The "elephant ear" armour is against rounds that are coming from the front in an angle so it won't hit the glacis but one of the sides of the hull. This armour, when folded out offers protection against these rounds. I hope it is understandable
I am not 100% sure about this, though
thats the best explination I have heard so far
thanks

Hello Adam,
I really can't wait for the t64 to be released, what I received were 2 testshots one partial hulk and another complete one with draft instructions, I used parts taken from a skif t64 to bring the hulk to life and I was amazed as to how easily the parts fit together (ill post pics soon) hope they give us more versions.
Always
Mike

I just got mine in the mail literally 5 min ago, it's beautiful. A lot better looking than my Skif T-64BV, that's for sure.

Got mine too- looks fantastic. Hopefully I'll have a review done in the near future and then I'll get a build log going. There sure is a good deal of etch in the kit and you can't argue with a metal barrel!

Glad to hear they are now "real". Please inform on accuracy of the turret as soon as you can.

Jacques- to my eye the turret is almost perfect. I think there is just a little discrepancy as to the sloping angle at the front but to my eye it is so minimal that it is hardly worth thinking about. Thats just my two cents worth !
Edit: I just found the old 'Test Shot' thread from when we got the first glimpse of the test tooling. Later today I'm going to post that old picture and take one of the turret in the kit to compare.

When Trumpeter first posted shots of their T-64 there was a feeling that the turret wasn't quite right- this thread has the discussion.
So- the picture below was the 'first look' at the T-64 turret posted by Gaoyue (iamsu7):
And this is the turret in the kit that I took some pictures of:
Personally speaking I think the edges have been softened and I'm quite happy with the shape. Obviously everyone is entitled to totally disagree with me!! I would say that if you are dissapointed with the shape then perhaps wait to see what other models of the T-64 are released as extensive ERA pannelling was fitted to BV's and later models- this hides the front shape of the turret fairly well!

Here is the Miniarm T-64A Turret for comparison
Looks like it might be still a bit too sharp, but nothing some sanding couldn't take care of...

In my opinion, the turret shape looks quite good. I have some doubts about the "hatch structure". It seems to me that they have reproduced a later version one
Anyway, to be honest i haven't deepened yet the T-64 versions, so I might be wrong
Thanks a million for the pics Karl

Looks very nice. Mine is still en route from Asia to Europe (I like to picture it tied to the back of a yak struggling along the Silk Road - but probably not).
Turret-wise, there seem to be several different shapes. Mauro - the vehicle in grey you have photos of looks like an (earlier?) version judging from the rangefinder shape.
The more I research the T-64, the more confused I get - I used to think it was T-64, T-64A and T-64B (and BV etc) but apprently there were a whole bunch of sub-versions too (Model 1972, 1973 etc.)
Does anybody have a comprehensive guide to versions and how to tell them apaprt?

There's a German site about the T-64

Anyway, it would be far better to have some Russian references
Here some information taken from a lithuanian site

Thanks for taking the time to post the pics Karl!
Now, to my eye the Trumpeter turret doesn't look right. When compared against the real thing, certainly the edges look a little too sharp, however my concern is that the Trumpy turret looks almost too rounded on the sides, notice on the real thing theres quite a few flatter faces, notably where the lifting hooks are.
Its one hell of a complicated turret shape thats for sure, and really I cannot fully judge until I have one in my hands (probably not for a while being bogged down in other projects). Still kudos to Trumpy for tackling this, it should be a fun build, i'm just a little unsure on that shape.....
