Are the tracks link-and-length... or all separate links?

Hi Hisham, as usual many thanks for spotting!

The chart says "plastic tracks links", it doesn't says "Vinyl track links". Morover, in the kit there are over 550 parts. Such a large number of parts for a 1/35 tank would be possible only if there are single track links in the box.
They must be separate links

Finally we have a new T-64 model and It looks very nice! I think I'll buy for sure

cheers

Hi Folks!

According to the photos, it is link and length:

Yes, Adam, that pic is what made me ask the question.

Maybe the kit offers two options?

I see, sorry

Well at first glance it looks like that it is a LOT OF parts but I did not count it Lately Trumpeter just "estimates" number of pieces (250+, 500+, etc.)

Finally I roughly counted it It is almost 530 if I count the tracks and the fuel drums tree twice and the one with the wheels four times, including PE.

I think photos are usually more correct in the case of Trumpeter, than the text

Cheers,

Adam

I haven't noticed!
That's quite disappointing!

Considering that actually they produce T-64 single track links...

http://www.trumpeter-china.com/a/en/product/other/Figures/2012/0303/2082.html

I really hoped that they would have included them in the kit!

They had workable T-55 tracks when T-62 came out, but it was not included... I think it would raise prices even more.

Link and legth are just fine for me, not too much extra work I do not need all in individual pieces since I do not put them on uneven ground

They did included them! Actually the T-62 kit has single track links.

My doubts are about the T-64 track linkk shape. The actual ones are really complex...

I really don't know if longer parts could replicate them in a decent way

Morover, single track links are always more realisitic, even if you set your tank on a flat terrain

That's a pity indeed in my opinion, anyway, it's better than have awful vinyl tracks

so sweet, but I may buy a individual track link, the T-64A turret looks so sexy and looks identical to early T-72s, I will love trumpeter T-64s before the loooooooooooooooong waited T-72 comes~ ( I'm also fine with T-80U)

Trumpeter seem to be working their way through their entire back catalogue producing workable individual links for their armour kits. Probably they just figured they'd make more money if they provided basic link and length tracks in the kit and let the detail nuts buy separate workable links as a 'detail-up'. Can't really blame them for that...

Still massively looking forward to this one.

Well Ed, it depends on the kit price. If the kit is expensive, that won't be a good policy in my humble opinion

Anyway, if I had to buy extra track links, I'ěd buy the resin Miniarm ones...if they fit

Yes, I know Mauro, I wanted to say that despite the existence of a workable track links set for T-55/62 etc, the T-62 1962 came out with a non-workable individual set. I think this is their policy, selling the workable only to those who are interested and can afford it.

You are right with the complexity, but building this from such pieces...pain in the ass

So time for my BRRDM-2 that lacks all the welding lines just to say something nice

Cheers!

Link and length would be fine with me- I agree with Ed though- I think they will release a workable set seperately.
Thanks for posting this up Hisham!

...those turret front edges still look a little to sharp. Will have to see when I get my hands on a kit.

Hi All,

That image is totally different from the tracks that came with the test shot that I built for IPMS Philippines,

the one I got were brown individual link tracks, tho the extra armor for the glacis also came with the kit, I really dont know how they are going to box this tho,

thanks

I really wonder when this ones comming out, and I hope that they include all sprues from the testshot in the box,

The test shot sprue gives the builder the option of making the tank as a standard t64 with and without a thermal sleeve and then its your choice if you want to make it as a command tank without the commanders MG

there is also included in the sprues extra glacis armor, rear turret stowage box, and the missile guidance box in place of the coincidence range finder, tho I wud think that that wuold have to come with another turret.

Thanks

This has gained my attention and hope to see the kit released soon as I have become a big Late Soviet Armor fan and would love to have a correct T-72 as well.

Maybe a big T-62 ~ T-72 Campaign?

(I think link-and-length tracks will work for me too)

Hi Mike!

Based on these photos, most of zhe features you have mentioned are included in the box (gun with thermal sleewe, extra front armour, etc.) but not in the instructions. As always, different models shars sprues and also I guess that the review sample for you was a mixed bag.

With 550 parts and "21 sprues"... is this to have any kind of an interior?

I can't see one in those shots of the instruction pages. I'm just glad they went with link and length tracks and a metal barrel!

I'd rather have link and length than those crummy "workable" tracks trumpeter puts out. I have tried the Nbfzg and the T-62 sets, and I found the little pins were too short to hold the links together to well. after getting a little run assembled in the jig one or two would come apart.
my$0.02

speaking of T-64's can anyone explain the reason for the skirt armour panels to be swung out sideways like that? was it just for maintenance on the running gear or something else.

The "elephant ear" armour is against rounds that are coming from the front in an angle so it won't hit the glacis but one of the sides of the hull. This armour, when folded out offers protection against these rounds. I hope it is understandable

I am not 100% sure about this, though
