They are put on the front side skirts for amphibious operations.

This is truly an neat looking vehicle and nice build. Too bad there are no photos of the fully painted model.

Does anyone know how the antenna is raised? Manually or mechanically? If the antenna is raised mechanically, shouldn't there be some hydraulic actuators at the base?

Also, does the antenna rotate on the real vehicle?

This venicle is still secret... And there is no any good information about it even at our sites... Also some sites, who contained any information about it and another new machines are closed.

In my opinion, antenna should raise mechanically.

After I posted my message, I did a long web search and came upon some Russian language sites which contained more photos of the Rubikon. There was one small picture of two vehicles that seems to answer one of my two questions.
The pair of vehicles showed the antenna had been rotated 90 degrees.

I am working on finishing mine. Jim, who started this thread, passed away before finishing his.

The main antenna, the big rectangle, is mechanically adjusted. The two boxes on the side that have the "pivot" contain the system to raise/lower it (not sure if purely mechanical, or hydraulic). It can also rotate 360 degrees.

The antenna "pole" on the front right side is raised manually.

Jacques

That is sad news about Jim.

I hope we can see your completed build soon. Is your model a mid or late version?

I am considering purchasing the mid/late kit #252ML in addition to kit 161.

Do you know of any built up web pictures of Sbroka M1-2 Kit #253 ?
