Good day all
I wanted a quick build and something interesting, so I picked this kit out and found there just wasnt much data on it, but thanks to a few, pictures were found and I was able to start, I will have to Make a few things, but it wont be that bad, The only add on I am useing is Friul Tracks and scraps from my stock:
Now I did make a change to the main radar mast and drilled in pins to keep it on the stands
There a couple of extra antenna's I have to make and also all of the drive train. I work on the tracks when the news is on. Hope you like it its different
Jim
Sorry for the blurry pictures I just came in from outside and was sun blinded

You are the best: If you should find an over head shot of that side there seems to be mods done, there is another small mast and an areial that can either raised or folded, I cant be sure from the pictures you last sent. Also I love those blogs there are so much information, but alas I can not read Russian and the translator is slow.
Thanks again
Jim

Jim,
I think there are early and late versions of this vehicle. Two pics clearly do not show the telescoping antenna that you are trying to scratchbuild (and, BTW, other SP Designs kits have that antenna), but they have the "bulge" box between the drivers hatches. Those with the telescoping antenna do NOT have the box. I am guessing the "Box" is a replacement antenna...Satellite maybe?
might make your build easier...

Thanks for the advice, which kits are you speaking of? also the information on the antenna is for communications between radar units I was told.
Thanks

The Rubicon is used to detect enemy radar and track it back to the source so it can be destroyed. It is a passive system. The US navy uses a similar system to it, right down the to angles of the radar surfaces. It needs at least 2 systems to work, better with 3 or more.
Did you modify the "turret" plate? It looks like you cut notched into the front "bumper". I cannot get my radar to standup totally straight.
Oh, and kit 251 has the antenna you are trying to make.

Yes you have to notch or cut the posts that stop the radar from going backwards, I have notched the, but I will cut them down , just have't got to that yet

Talked with Sergej. He says the KIT represents a early vehicle and what you are trying to make, with the antenna, is the LATE version. Just so you know.

Thanks Jacques:
I relized this was a later version when I started. I just went this route beacuse it was different.
here are a couple of updates: useing an antenna from another SP Designs kit. If you dont have one of their kits I would try one. They build into a nice kit when done and the price is right for a resin kit, with as much detail that comes with it:
antenna up and down, now I will make one with out the cover.

Hey Jim,
Glad you are having fun and enjoying the build.
Sergej said this: "...need to add the telescopic mast, rework read box a little (part #39), and make the rear spare boxes on the roof."

That's a very impressive build Jim. For the Friul tracks , just be patient, the result will be worth taking the time needed to drill out these axis holes
