I'm so sorry about late answer, but I was really busy in the last month. Only the last week had time again to work on my beast and answer to your questions.
So the TPD-K1 has been fixed from another turret. I have a friend who actually sculpted the SBS turret, and that is correct as shape as size also. So he gave it to me a full turret, and I just cut out that. It's just can not credit for it

But If I'm here now I just drop few photos, to show, the topic has not died yet! I finished with the turret numbers, as you can see on original photo (I had to create my own stencils) and finally started to paint the chipping.

Finally I found the perfect evidence that I had right all time! I hope you don't have any doubt after this!?




I also wanted to share with you guys where I am at the moment. The white wash is ready on turret, and I started to make the mud, but the photo what I've got today makes me think about couple of thing, and also makes me do something. Fix my mistakes. As you can see I have to change the two front lights, I have to remove the gun cleaner tools tube (or whatever is that) from the turret side and I have to make the flags. But after that I'll be really close to finish!

I'm not really sure, that I understand what you'r saying. If you ask about Trumpeter, my answer is, I don't know because I builded the Tamiya. If you are saying that the Trumpeter is good, thanks the information. Useless for me, but I'm happy that you like it!

Gergo- the weathering on this beast is nothing short of stunning. The mud and dirt is very realistic and the paint wearing and chipping is spot-on. Very inspirational stuff!

Hi all!

In the last couple of days I was working on the commander, tried to paint him well, but I'm not a figure painter. My first try was a disaster for me, even if I used a dvd from a very talented modeller Olivér Kovács. So I decided I make a trip to visit my Fiend Daniel Batta in Kells. Thanks god, he helped me a lot. He explained how the valejo is working for figure painting, and explained the processes for faces.
He is not ready, the hand and the throsers are missing, but I had to try it in to the cupola.

Not a figure painter? Doesn't look that way to me- you have an awesome figure there, simple as that. The look on his face and the small details like the hair-line and the subte stubble really make the face come alive with character- its a great addition to this build. Brilliant stuff!

I can not tell how much appreciate it! Not much feed back here for this project, but I thought everyone interesting about T-72, but as you see not too many comment came responding to my posts, so I much appreciate your answers!
That was my second made head in my life, but as I wrote before if Daniel didn't show me how is working I have to practice 1 year before this result. I'm working on the flags now, just few days and she will be ready for a nice diorama. Not a big deal, just a road, a road light, and a highway barrier, oh and another figure

Yes indeed, we need more. But not just chechnyan, we need loads of modern figures. Now on the market 90% german second world war, 9% allied and 1 pocent only modern stuff! Time to wake up for the modeller companys because many many people bored about WWII!

I'm following this build and also followed your T-62 in Chechnya build.

I think your work is great and I'm very interested in modern subjects, namely Russian and Israli, but also other nations.

I'm building the T-64B and I have on my "reserves" the T-62 W/ERA, T-72B and T-90A.

The problema with being a modern AFV modeller is that the modelling "community" keeps centered on WWII, specially German-SS subjects, and there aren't enough good quality figure kits on the market.
We Now have the new Trumpeter and Meng kits, but we don't have figures to create dioramas, in fact we do not even have the figures to represent the tank crews.

Personally I only say something when I see my comments may be useful and maybe other guys here will be like me, but I'm sure your builds are amongst the ones that have more followers.

You just said something I have been thinking for quite sometime: people (not everybody, but many) are already fed-up with WWII German army and SS subjects.

And I don't see young people relating with WWII or interested in WWII at all.

When I started modelling in the 80th napoleonics was the big thing and me and my friends only hook-up with the hobby when WWII subjects started to appear.
WWII had only been 35 years before, the world was very diferent, there were still WWII movies ...

Now WWII is becoming the new napoleonics.
It was to long ago and new conflicts and geopolitics emerged.
... And many people -- specially young generations -- are interested in the new reallity and not in events that are already too far away.

I go to the last two modelling shops still open in Lisbon and I just see guys over 40 (I'm one of them).
One of those stores is near a high-school and, as the owner told me once, he has no clients amongst the kids that go to classes there. Only the guys of my age or older.

Then I know modellers that 10 years ago were already commenting that they wanted things that aren't on offer: modern Russian and Israelis, for instance; I know more modellers interested in Chechnya war and Middle-east conflicts than the ones I know interested in WWII.

MasterBox seems to be releasing some figures inspired by "Band of brothers"; why not release figures inspired on "Generation Kill"? That series had many images that could inspire more than a set of figures.

Most modern figures on the market are USA subjects, but we still don't have decent figures representing USA forces in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, for instance.

Dragon released the M1 tanks, but just forgot to create the figures to go with it and is still producing more and more WWII figure sets (I stopped buyng then 2 years ago).

There are absolutely no decent figures of Israely figures.
Why? We already have the tanks.

Why not creating modern day Russian figure sets?

I believe that the companies will have to address this issue soon.

André, you have right. But don't forget there is a company named Dragon which is just sheds out the german paper panzers!!!! And the new generation, the young modellers doesn't have a fully "adult" taste. They just build, what is easy available on the market, and most important what they see from the "big modellers" as Mig, or Adam W. And they won't build a T-72 because just watch this topic, hidden in a secret corner of Armorama! Try to find my topic, when you are on the main site!! Anyway that is another conversation and another subject, point of view.


But back to my current project. I was working 3 days on the flags, and I finally srued up!
The Chechnyan flag is fine now, wit all the colors, as I wanted, but the purple.... that's a diferent story. It happened, that I made the stencils, and I spreyed up all the collors, but the gold, just stucked on the side of the stencil, and all the colors just took off from the leading foil. So I will need a couple of more days to fix this problem. And the mean time I'll continue with other smale things to finish.

Love the flags/banners and the whole thing is coming together very well now. I think the face on your figure is outstanding, been painting for quite some time and I couldn't produce anything that looks even close to that good - wish I could though!

Hello guys!

I'm gled you like what I've done here. Not ready yet, and coming more things soon, what makes my model more lifelike or I would say more realistic, but first I have to finish my flags. And unfortunately first, I have to wait for my new paints. Until that I will finish the back area, and add the leaves for front armor and the flat areas. When it's ready need to syncronize the turret with the lower body. After that I can start the diorama with the new figures (civilian)
So just couple of more days and I'm gonna come back!
