It is at least 100% better than the DML kit. I am so happy I wont start nitpicking.

I asked Daniel at HobbyEasy about this company and he said the owner is a friend of his, and added this...

The T-80U kit you have seen is the first test shot. It is undergo a preceudre for the second test shot to improve the fittings , add more details and final amendment to make the kit as accurate as possible. They have no price information at this moment. It should need 2 more months into mass production.
By the way, the GAZ Tiger will be an excellent kit. Soft skin fans would love it very much.
I can't wait.. better start saving!

It looks like they are going to mold K-5 tiles right onto glascis plate. Please don't shoot yourselves in the foot and make it a separate part(s). T-80's hull can be reused in pre-87 U, and 219A/R, kit or conversion and post 1992 UD and T-84. That way you can also reuse most of the already cut tooling to make T-80B and BV.

Please God, don't let this kit become vaporware!
Also, really hoping they release multiple variants.

Given that they already tooled it, average cost of tooling something like this is between 100k and 500k, they will end up in a hell of a hole if they don't sell it.

A very very long time ago I bought a ref book called - T-80U, Russia's Main Battle Tank, by Steven Zaloga and David Markov, published by Concord in their Mini Color Series, it has a huge amount of colour photo's, mainly of T-80's at shows, all dressed in crazy colour schemes, plus some pictures of a prototype 'Black Eagle' with the turret and gun covered in camo net to hide detail, plus some scale drawings, a nice little book, but at the time, I kinda felt like I had wasted my money,
Now, I don't feel like I wasted my money.

However, we haven't heard the HARSH and SEVERE judgment done by Russian modellers yet...
Matt when has been released that book? If I were you I'd be careful with scale drawings. Steve Zaloga is an incredibly reliable expert, maybe the best one, but these old drawings might have been made before the Iron court fall so they could have done with no original references adopted as a guide.
Just my two cents, anyway

It was first published in 1999, so 12, 13 years old, I can't even remember why I bought it tbh, I think I bought a book on the BMP at the same time, even though I have never built a BMP, and probably never will, lol
Some of the photo's are just fantastic, there's some pictures at the start of 2 T-80B's that have been knocked out in the Chechen war, one from an ammunition explosion that has flipped the turret, leaving it upside down in it's own turret ring.
But my fav piccy is a very close up shot (down the gun) of a T-80U/B with Kontakt 5 ERA armor, and it looks like an absolute Beast, painted green and sand, with dabs of black, the pictures seem to be from a private show for export orders.

1999? So,that book must be a reliable source!
Finally it seems that we can depict that beast in a decent and easier way!
(...I know...i'm incredibly boring....but I wonder when we can do the same with a new T-72 model kit )
cheers

George made an excellent point. I hope it gets passed on to the manufacturer. The more diversity they can bring to a series the better.

HELLO EVERYONE; First the Concord Books are a Great reference, lots of color and the T-72, T-90 is also in my opion one of the best on modern soviet armor. And there is also the New Vanguard # 152 Book on the T-80. also by Mr. Zaloga. this is one of the Osprey series, and is a Good Buy, 45 pages with Color Plates & pics,! All three of these are a Must just for the Pics, alone.

Guess I have to take back what I said about glascis business before, they've gone the right route with parts breakdown. Now I'm skeptical about the turret
