Finally decided to use Academy's M113A3 "Iraq 2003" kit as a base and build in a Bradley turret with the Bushmaster replaced by Mini Gun. Complete interior will be added also.

Graeme,
I actually have something like that planned as a possible What-If project later on down the road. I've got four partially built M113s set aside for projects. I'm using a 20mm turret from a an old LAV-25. That's not for this campaign though.

The turret from a JGSDF Type 87 could look good as well. It has those boxy vertical sides that would go well with the boxy look of a M113.

Some great ideas, here. This is just the type of response I was looking for. I currently have an M577, M163, and IDF Fitter set aside. Oh, almost forgot. I want to incorporate a vorpanzer turret, into my build.

Chop chop! See how the width of the AVGP and M-113 line up, and also how the M-113 ramp upper is the same width as the AVGP... it was meant to be. Going to look like a Warrior MCRV methinks.

@ Matt - you certainly spoilt for choices there. Nice selection
@ Graeme - looking forward to see the finished model
@ Paul -I've built the Academy and the Tamiya kits before but never the Italeri. Will be watching with interest

Originally I was going to build the Acadaemy's M163, but after seeing the resin interior set by Iron Division for the M577, I've decided to go for it, and while waiting for the order to arrive, I'll be assembling the exterior

I'll keep you guys updated with the progress

How's this for a related news story?

http://www.armyrecognition.com/october_2013_defense_industry_military_news_uk/us_army_to_replace_old_m113_armored_personnel_carrier_with_ampv_armored_multi-purpose_vehicle_031013.html

Could this be the old warhorse being put out to pasture in the US Army at any rate?

Just enlisted for this one, my wife picked me up an Academy KIFV to mess with, with Eduard photoetch and RB M2 barrel/etch upgrade. Planning on using the full kit interior, as well as finishing off the wiring and such it needs in there. If I could find a picture of the engine in situ I'd try building it too. My Merkava came so warped that my wife bought me the model as a consolation prize. Didn't think at the time it would work for this, but it does!

There's so little good info on the KIFV, anyone got a good place to start?

Should be fairly OOB from this point on. Its going to represent a plain jane / initial issue , circa 1970's for 4 CMBG in Germany.

Edward, Your right there is not much around. There is a thread on military photo's.net on the korean military which has pics of the KIFV.

I had the same problem with my K-263 (KIFV with M-163 SPAAG conversion). I'll have a hunt through the hard drive and see what I can dig up.

Graeme: You are really flying through your build. Very clean assembly.

I'm still not completely decided how I'm going to do mine. I'm thinking the Vorpanzer turret and crane on top with two minigun platforms on the port and starboard sides.

Just a small update on the kit, which not requiring much sanding/filing. Dry fitting for size. Once the walls and floor are asssembled, I'll be filling in the small gaps
