Paul:
oh bother, which units used only 2 tone--damn now you've gone beyond my level of research
Hi J, I have had a look around and found this out, the sPzAbt 511 had a two tone camo, these are the guys with the octopus rings on the dark yellow green paint. Also the sPzAbt 501 could
also have used two tone on some vehicles. There is a picture I have seen, but can't find at the moment of dark yellow with broken green stripes, and there is these two here:
Tank 104 and 204
for discussion purposes only
and this Porsche KT too:
Of course these pics are all debatable but I like to think they're green over dark yellow. Hope it helps and doesn't cause more problems.

J. that is good question
I think the blue with yellow seems to fit quite well, but if you take a photo of your decals and look at it in black and white then red and white might go too.
I would go for blue with yellow, but it's really your choice.

Hi Tommy, if they aren't to deep then you could sand them off, but be careful . If they are beyond sanding then you're going to have to fill the marks with putty and then sand.
The last resort, and my first choice, would be to remake them with thick aluminium foil. That stuff you can bend, tear, beat up, as much as you want with your tweezers or fingers. That way you don't need to go overkill with the pliers
Whatever you do just be gentle, or you'll cause more damage than you want.

Hi there,
Signed up to this campaign a few weeks ago and raring to go on this kit - DML 6303 King Tiger Henschel Turret w/Zimmerit.
I'm fairly new to modelling and currently painting my first ever finished kit over on the Light Tanks campaign. I'm starting this one now to keep me busy in between coats of paint!
Been looking forward to this one! Cheers, Paul.

Paul B. - Thanks! I haven't missed it, just doing things in small sections, half because since this is the first time I am giving myself room to improve my technique, and half because the stuff dries quickly so I don't want to do too much at once.
Started on the main hull. I think the zimmed surface isn't chipping quite as well, or maybe I'm just not hitting the right window in terms of waiting for the chipping fluid and paint itself to be dry enough/too dry. Still though, I think it looks all right and it'll be dirtied up a bit more under another layer of weathering.
Still debating on if I should whitewash the road wheels or not. I've seen it done both ways, and I'm thinking of muddying up the running gear to the point where it wouldn't really be visible anyway.
At any rate, this one is coming along nicely, and I'm glad I joined up with the campaign. This is about the time in a build when an unopened box starts to tempt me away from finishing, and it's nice to have the extra motivation!

Howdy Y'all
I'll be building a Tiger or two from this selection. Dragon 1/144, pretty small but I love these kits.
Take care,

Those 1/144 kits are way cool, I have a few tucked away somewhere.
Progress on my Tiger. Whitewash finished:
And with a few layers of wash applied:
There's not much left do do here I think. I'm planning on applying some dark mud pigment to the road wheels, and maybe splattering some mud all around the road wheels and tracks. Don't want to go too heavy but it looks a bit too clean right now. Other than that I'm not sure what's left.
As always, criticisms are much appreciated!

Miniflea, I don't know how you did it ? , but she looks great . How on earth did you paint the tracks?
Great job however it was completed, looking forward to seeing the next project.
Sal nice camo there bro , are you going to go over the green and red brown again with a lightened version of the two ?
Anthony how's your KT and hitchhikers coming along?
Paul

Thanks for the inquiry Paul,I have been working on my Semovente for your Desertized Build as a change of pace,.Figures for KT are assembled and primed and the KT just needs some pigments. Also life has been busy with work and spring yard work,so I have not had a lot of time at the bench. Most of my forum surfing is done at work, unfortunatly I can't build models at work.

Paul, thanks for your kind words. The track painting was actually quite simple. First, I sprayed on a base coat of flat black. I used Krylon paint I bought at a hardware store instead of hobby paint. It's cheaper and it has a bit of a rough texture that would probably make it unsuitable for the rest of the vehicle but for running gear is ok. Then mixed vallejo light rust with a small bit of black or grey to darken it and applied it as a wash. I built up a few layers of this until it looked right. Then, I drybrushed vallejo silver over top to get the worn down to bare metal look. Simple and easy but it gets the job done.
I think on my next model I might try things slightly reversed- a rusty brownish basecoat with a black wash applied, and see if that looks any better. I wish I knew just how rusty to make the tracks look. I suspect that most of the time they didn't stay on the tank (at least with the shorter lifespan German track had) long enough to get all that rusty.

Sal, can't you take an idler wheel or sprocket out, it would make your job easier...
It's a great kit, good looking beast, I like the camo, but on the last photo the left front corner the brown stripes look a bit odd. Perhaps with some filters & washes you can blend the colours a bit.
I don't know if it's either the shape of the brown stripes that got that effect.

Thanks John yes the idler wheel and sprocket are dry fit but he track seems like its 1or 2mm short
As for that brown strip looking a bit odd I didn't notice that and will have to take a look at it thanks for pointing it out
