Hey everyone,
Got the Legend T-54 mod 49 conversion for Christmas, and was wondering if anyone had any good references of it on a field exercise or anything.
Thanks for any help.

a good google image search of "t-54-2" or t-54 model 1949 turns up a bunch.

to build an original T-54 you must do a lot of work in addition at Legend's kit.
You must do the early type idler wheel, five arms drive sprocket, circular driver hatch, change position of tow cables ,hole for MG in front armor plate, spiderweb wheels and others small works.
this is my T-54 mod.49, ready to be painted

Hi DVistalli,
Could you elabotare on the idler wheel a bit more?? I have never seen a T54 /49 one up close.
Also were did you get those lovely T34 wheels from?? Also do you have any pictures of the drivers hatch & mg port that need to be changed??
Cheers Mike

Hey DVistalli,
Could you talk about what needs done for the drivers hatch, and how you made the idler? I picked up some spider web wheels and added the hull machine gun hole.
Thanks.

here this might help some, it's not a straight early mod 49 version, but still has some of the early features. Notice the idler and driver's hatch and the mg hole in the hull.

Thanks Christopher,
I'm not really sure how I would make the idler. Anyone have any methods?

you could probly just use the kit idlers and sand down the side to were they are flush with the rims. Then drill holes in between the spokes. not the most accurate way but would pass once the tracks are in place.
One side is flat against the rim while the back side is rounded. But then again not many would see this detail expect for the die hard Russian fans that know what to look for.

I'll give that a shot. I have two old trump idlers I can try it on before I do the Tamiya ones. Thanks a lot.

To make early idler wheel i used modified Tamiya part and a plasticard ring.
Also the five arms sprocket wheels are typical feature of mod.1949.
The driver hatch is the most difficult part to do. There are no big difference but is an important feature of original T-54-2.
This tank, in original configuration, was used only of Soviet Army and not for a long time in the earlier '50....all later vehicles are modified tanks without all original features.
the spiderweb wheels are from Legend and are little bit bigger than T-34's ones

Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated. How did you modify the idler? Sanded sections down?

You are welcome
I sanded section down about 1 mm on external wheel side(like thick of plasticard ring)to can fit correctly the tracks.
