Christian,
Seems like you now have the perfect excuse to tell your wife to spend as much time as she wants at the Christmas Markets!

Pending any comments or suggestions from my esteemed colleagues, I'm calling this build done.
Since this is supposed to represent a prototype there is very little weathering or wear. Still looks pretty amateurish compared to what the rest of you guys are producing, but I enjoyed working on it. I think it may actually be harder to make a realistic-looking new vehicle than a battle-weary one!
Good luck with the rest of your builds! Looking forward to seeing what everyone produces.

Great-looking Flakpanther, Shawn. Is that brush-painted or sprayed?

Thanks for the comments everyone,
@ Mark C. it is sprayed, why?

Just curious, is all. Nice, clean lines.

I used a combination of Frog Tape and Parafilm to mask off areas. I would highly recommend Parafilm, as it has no adhesive properties so it never pulls up the base coat when removing it.

Berlin Breakout or Bust! Flakpanther complete - just over a month from start to finish. With few exceptions all paint/weathering was done with Mig, AK Interactive, or Ammo of Mig products.
Hope you all enjoy it, and Im looking forward to seeing everyone elses builds.

Great build, Shawn!
I love the extremely fine weathering around the hatches etc. How did you do that? Is it a very fine sponge or fine brush?

Thank you! It means a lot coming from a veteran builder like yourself. I use a combination of a sponge stick and a 10/0 paint brush. I rip chunks off the leading edge of the sponge so its not uniform and dry brush the chipping color on. Here is a link to a site with the brush, they are usually very cheap and readily found in most craft/hobby stores.

I'm finally back with some progress on my GMC Bofors 40mm.
The build itself is A LOT of fun! Lots and lots of pieces and bits to be put together is several subassemblies. The fit is perfect, the level of details is great and the PE parts add the needed extra where due. So far, greatly recommended!
Here are some images of the finishes subassemblies:
Feedback and critique highly welcome!
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
More images of the HobbyBoss GMC Bofors. Getting closer to finish this one but still a lot to do. I can't emphasize enough how much fun this kit really is!
Feedback is greatly appreciated, as always!
Thanks!

Christian,
I love the rust on the floor--looks like a lot of moisture has been tracked into cab--but I'm a bit dubious about the chipping in the steering wheel. I think that would have been made out of some kind of phenolic plastic, so would have just become a flat black the more scratched up it got. Same thing with the shift lever knob.
Oh, and your sighting system looks fantastic! Is that OOB or scratch?

Hey Mark,
You're probably right on the steering wheel and the knob. I'll have to see what can still be corrected now that the cabin is fully assembled. Not sure where my mind was while I did the chipping...
The sighting system is all OOB. The PE parts supplied with the kit really make for a great look.
