This should Not be A Surprise too anyone, as Zvesda is just about the only plastic kit maker in Russia that has any Claout Left. The Others like Eastern Express, Skiff, and A couple of others are all but Silent or are out of Buisness altogether. And Zvesda is Probably partly owned by the State anyway. Im Surprised that we did not Learn about there Products sooner than this.

While Takom's kit isn't bad, I expect Zvezda's effort to be better researched, it's obvious that Takom was reliant on the photographs flooding the internet after VE-Day. Zvezda should have access to the real deal.

Zvezda is not always the best. Their T-90 has unnecessary suspension issues, for example. They are a decent company though...

And SKIF is/was a Ukrainian company, not Russian.

I completely agree. The first thing that is very uncommon on Takom Armata is completely flat underbody.

I can confirm that Zvezda will release the Armata as it's listed on their 2016 catalogue.




Indeed, nobody at Takom's R&D team had reference of the Armata's underbody.

Zvezda's kit should have more parts such as separate hatches and armour modules but UVZ and the military may restrict them from representing certain details for OPSEC reasons which may include the underbody. Apparently, this also happened with Revell and its 1/35 scale Boxer.

Well, Zevezda has announced a T-14, but the box art of this picture seems to be fake. It says "middle tank T-14" (like the T-34 was qualified in WW2).

This seems not to be correct for the real designation

In fact Armata underhull photos has been out for month....

The box art may as well be a fake or one of their trial versions before release.




No doubt, better detailed photographs of nearly every piece of the Armata can be found online now, a good opportunity for Zvezda. I can't fault Takom for not including any underhull details on their kit, their product R&D took place way before anybody outside the Russian armed forces had any more comprehensive information about the tank.

Zvezda has shown significant improvement in the last years. If this thing is real, it could be (for me definitely) an acceptable alternative to the more expensive Takom kit. Don't forget, this is sort-of a paper panzer, this version has existed only for a few weeks and I wonder how much of it is Маскировка.

Zvezda has recently improved a lot in the quality of their armor. T-90 and Terminator are excellent models for the price you pay. With the new Armata Zvezda's reputation only grows.
I was planning to get Takom, but now I am definitely waiting for Zvezda.

The Armata for sure will undergo some changes before it'll go into service, so.. For my personal taste it is not that a huge problem with lack of hull downside details. Better to make a model without any details than implementing wrong ones.

The overall details on Takom's Armata look very fine and correct. So, just to keep in mind building an prototype and not good known tank model and the early stage of public announce, I can deal with the flat bottom

And you all forgot about Panda's effort which will be available soon.

I do not like Panda because of the wrong instructions and numbered parts.

Hi Everybody;

IMHO I think before all of the Hype wears off, just about everybody will offer the T-14. And I am A Bit surprised Trumpeter has not jumped on the Band Wagon as of yet; And it will be interesting to see just how much Zvesda Packs into there kit, if its as Good as there T-90 then it should be o.k. ! But there was A Lot of Dissapointment in there, ie; The Chassis was to Tall and Some were not Impressed with the Plastic as being too Soft.
As for Myself I thought it was A Great kit, and Lite Years ahead of anything they did in the Past. Will there T-14 have the Hull Details that are missing on the Takom; Only Time Will Tell !!!!--Happy Holidays; MIKE.

The box art of those kits looks to be higher standard than previous kit boxes. This makes it seem that Zvezda is achieving as high standard to quality as other companies like Meng or Trumpeter.

Yes Zvesda has come A long way, and there T-90 was A Good kit; But I think they still have A Long Way to go to Accheave the Level of Quality that Meng has, and we have yet to learn How Good there Terminator is !

my favorite domestic hobby shop announced delivery and sales start of Zvezda 3670 T-14 Armata by the end of October 2016.
Description says 410 parts in 11 sprues, incl. clear parts and decals for 3 versions(Victory Parade Day plus two Russian Army).

It will cost half the price of Takom's kit (that I've already done), so another try seems worth to me.
