Very nice indeed! The scratch work on the Pershing is awesome! What are those cylinders on the front of turret? I'm loving the stug as well. Is that the 10.5cm howitzer on there? Looks too short for 75mm.

A little work this weekend on the MkIV Male. I took Saturday off to attend a model show on the East coast of Florida at the IPMS Flight 19 in Pompano Beach. It was an enjoyable show, nice club members and I won a few awards, so it was a nice day. Sunday, back to the bench. I completed the basecoat of khaki with some panel fading using the Tamiya color plan of half Earth and half Deck Tan added to the Khaki basecoat paint. You can see the fading 'in person', but looking at the photos, it is real light. I may have to do a bit more. I added the recognition stripes to the front horns.





As usual, comments always welcome. Many excellent builds coming together in this early stage of the campaign. Keep up the good work. For those of you following, there is still plenty of time to get a builder-friendly Tamiya kit completed. Join up!

Thanks for the kind comments. As I have mentioned before, this is a real nice kit and an enjoyable build. If you are thinking about building this kit, I highly recommend it. It will be fun 'paint-fest', with plenty of opportunity for weathering, streaking, pigments, etc.

Hi Bryan, they are hydraulic balance cylinders added to link the turret/mantlet to take the extra weight of the T15 90mm and enable the elevation gear to work properly ....

Mark - loving that Caunter! I've yet to do that scheme in it's correct colour shades like yours ... one day!

Thank you for the kind comments on the Zero guys. I am waiting on a part and if it arrives this week I should be able to finish it this weekend. I am working on a flight deck base and the pilot figure, but will be departing for a business trip shortly and won't return until Friday.

Mark, the Caunter Scheme on your Matilda II looks really nice.

Stephen, the paint job on your Mark IV Male is outstanding. The subtle panel fading turned out very nicely. Congratulations on you wins at the show.

Man, there are sooo many nice builds going on here, haven't started mine at all yet, got slammed with a bunch of reviews to do! Gotta get cracking soon.

Tracks are done and read for paint. Glued the two hull halves, and started on the hull parts. The front is mostly done, removed the locating notches on the fenders. Working on the stowage boxes and fuel cells.




Also got some work done on the engine deck, with some PE mesh instead of that plastic mesh.


And the work continues.

wow, you guys are off to a fast start! Here is my entry. Been a long time since I built a Tamiya kit. Should be fun.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Tamiya BT-7. Definitely on my list for the future. Looking forward to seeing your build.

The builds in this campaign continue to impress guys. I have had a bit of a work stoppage on the Zero due to a missing part; long story that I will spare all of you from hearing.

I have made a lot of progress on the base while waiting for the replacement part though, having finished painting and weathering the flight deck. I put a second coat of a slightly different color of wood stain on the deck to give it slight color variations. I followed that by adding a third color stain to individual boards to provide depth. The next step was adding fluid stains. I did this using a couple of different AK Interactive washes dipping the brush in the bottle and then a bottle of turpentine; then tapping the brush against my finger causing the wash to splatter. Finally, I used a broken micro drill bit to lightly chip the surface. I still have to install the metal tie downs; and I have decided to goes with some PE ones; hopefully they arrive soon.

hell yeah!!!! that deck is going to look awesome, and even better once that Zero is sitting and tied down to it.

I'm a huge fan of the zero, one of or if not my favorite prop plane.

Thanks, guys! The washes turned out to be quite a misadventure, but I think I've found the fix so hopefully better results next time around.

Mark - Excellent Matilda, the weathering is well done and the Caunter Scheme is very tight, especially on the 'busy' engine deck. Good job.

Ernest - The flight deck is really taking shape. The Zero will look good in its new home!

Now for further progress. I spent the weekend doing the basic weathering - washes, pinwashes, streaks and rusty streaks. It looks pretty good. Now to add the tow cable and unditching beam before getting into the mud and dirt.
