A couple of progress shots on my B-25. I am sure I posted the starting picture already, but cannot find it. In any case I post it here again in case I forgot.
Next is a white primer and then a suitable coat of faded green. I am very tempted to give it a aluminum undercoat and then scratch the green paint to let the aluminum show through.

RE: The Firefly: I maintain that the roadway on the bridge should be level. It just looks weird with the slope up and unlike any stone bridge I've ever seen.

A little more progress on my B-25. Main colors are on and the chipping has started on the wing edges revealing the the aluminum painted below.

Great to see some action on the big bird Jesper. I see there are some fit issues where the engine fits the wing. I have the same issue with the Citroen.
The type of plastic on the Citroen defies gluing and it is driving me crazy. The seams keep opening up. I resorted to 2 part epoxy as the roof section is slightly twisted, as are the sides, and the roof section is attached at 2 tiny points half way up where the windscreen goes. The expoxy seems to be holding but as I attached the windscreen to the roof and then when set attached that to the body work, the windscreen doesn't fit right, but I am going to live with it. It is what these kits are about!
The filler was falling out in places - I have tried various types of putty Tamiya, Perfect plastic and Magic Sculpt, but still had issues getting it to stick. so now it is being held together by primer and base coat... pics soon.

Thanks for the comments, Peter. Yeah, these 45 year old kits will never be state of the art today, but nothing beats the nostalgic value.

The B-25 is looking good Hesperia. Wonder if you can get a piece lead in behind the seats to weigh it down a bit?
My Tunnan is nearly ready for some paint. Hopefully I'll make the deadline. I did wonder about the accuracy of the strange shaped drop tanks, but looking at photos they seem about right.

OK, so a slope is possible, though the really steep slopes seem to be the foot bridges. So maybe Matchbox exaggerated the slope for 'artistic effect'. I suspect though the main reason is the limited real estate on the sprues! We all know how crowded some of those are. I should dig out the old base and build it how I see it in my mind for truly a picture is worth gold!
PS Gotta love the dedication on this site - researching the authenticity of a decades old accessory!

I'm finished with the building part and need to get it painted. I had planned on that for the weekend but that didn't happen! Now I'm going to have to rush it to the finish line if possible. Go, go , go . . .

Thanks Peter. Have to admit it's not the prettiest aeroplane I've ever built, but it's growing on me. Would have done a little more last night but found that one of the nose gear doors has gone AWOL. Spent over an hour searching and no look. Should be able to quickly scratch a replacement from plastic are. In the meantime I'm trying to decide which decal scheme to go for. Might go for the Austrian markings. Colourful and you don't see much finished in their schemes.

So many fond memories evoked by all the Matchbox kits.I loved them when i was 10 onwards in 70s.I loved the aircraft kits and when i saw the mini afv diorama kits i was hooked by the LRDG set,The Char b set,Montys caravan etc.Sadly i dont build many kits now but might seek out a Matchbox kit for reliving my building days in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Some great modern techniques applied to your models on golden oldie kits.

Lots of memories here for sure. I have added a couple of Matchbox kits to my stash since we started the thread and intend to build more.
We can get really hooked up on the modern issue kits, but there is a lot to be said for a nostalgia build. It reminds us that the hobby is supposed to be fun, not an exercise in maths on rivets....

I'm totally bogged down with my M7 Priest and I won't be ready with it on time.
Therefore I've opened another box and I started Sd.Kfz. 251. It is an easy model to assemble and I'm sure that I'll finish it before the deadline.
And here is the undercarriage next to the Hanomag that I have made 30+ years ago.

Okay, here is my build, warts and all. Not my best model, but hey it was not the intention. The dust coat is overdone - it looked better when the acrylics were still wet - and looking a little green in the pics, not like that in real life!
