Hey John,
Bummer about that M47. But the good news is you still have time to get another Italeri (or Revell re-pop) M47 and then "reduce the stash" by building it when the campaign starts!
It's still a very good kit, even compared to the newer Takom versions.
Naw...either I do this one, or not at all. I already have enough stash, and come hell or high water, I'll get this M47 dealt with (if I'm allowed to).

I second being allowed to use this kit for this group build. Repair work can take longer then the original work. Makes me want to finish my M47 for this group build. I will take a photo but I am a lot further behind.

Wow John.... looks like you got yourself some work there!!
I'll allow it, since it is a good thing to show people what can be done, even with "old stash", like this one.
Better make it good, y'hear?

Thank you! I'll do my best to make it look good. At the moment I'm working a Jordanian M47 for another campaign "Unfinished Business" that ends the 31st of December. Having the flexibility now, I'll work both campaigns concurrently...while contemplating the gizmology needed to fix the M47 for this campaign. Ryan, if the M47 for this campaign is even beyond my capability, remind me to cannibalize/salvage parts for your use. Don't expect anything immediately. While that is in the works, I'm going to check my storage pod (spare bedroom) for a pretty good size box I had full of old sprues from builds over the last 4 decades. I hope to find leftover M47 parts...maybe enough for correcting my issues. Rummaging through that room will be a nightmare all on it's own.

All this talk of M47s reminds me that I am halfway through an Italeri build myself! I added a full interior (3D-printed driver compartment & turret basket, seriously kit-bashed engine compartment, and scratched fighting compartment floor) that needs the innards painted before I can seal it up and build the outside. Might trot it out as a second entry here...

Not a problem. I still hope you get yours to work for you. She has set this long, more time won’t hurt. Plus being the sprockets, that can switched out at any point if need be.

Picktures, ya want picktures? How about these?
Tamiya 1/35 M41 Walker Bulldog.
Plugging up the motorization features and putting bottoms on the sponsons.
Most of the parts are still on the sprues. Both Jerry Cans, the pioneering tools, the mantlet and the gun butt.
Heck, even the crew is still in the plastic bag, along with an eduard brass kit.
None of the green parts are glued together, I'd say this kit isn't started.

Also hav ethe Tamiya Wespe (1996 kit) with a load of extras which I might be able to build (or get something new as my stash is all modern stuff - (apart form my 1 aircraft which is Vought F7U-3P Cutlass - oohhhh ok so that may be the build)

Robert, the original kit was '98, so you can use it. It just got extra parts.
But that Wespe sounds very interesting too....

Ron, first off thanks for running this campaign and putting up with all the questions and here's mine....
I found a Monogram re-release of 1/32 Panzer IV at a flea market and haggled down to $8! The hull has 1970 cast into the bottom BUT Revel of Germany did the re-release. Could I use this? OR... A Monogram wing thing from the 60's?
On the bench :
A whole bunch of figures, Too many half built kits and a (gasp) wing thing

Go for it!
The original really is antique and I doubt the new box will change that.

Good news Ryan. I found an old, cut up a bit, M47 sprue that still has the sprockets attached! What else do you need from that sprue (besides the sprockets)?

Looking over my build box and detached parts bag. I really only need one piece, part #8. I guess you would call that a interior sprocket ring ??? Noticed a broken part 40, haven’t decided if I will replace them or if needed for this build.
Like track, that threw this kit build mojo off and she has been parked since.

It hasn’t sat that long on the shelf of doom but I did buy it 4/2010 so the expiration date should be soon with this group build. I do have a few more that have been started that long ago and my GP Fury has helped club boys with lots of material to roast me with.

Hi Gang,
Just found this post. If the campaign is on - count me in. Lately, I am having as much fun (or more!) with old model kits as I do with the latest-greatest. Hopefully this is a 6-mo or longer campaign, as I failed to complete any of my other campaigns this year.

Do you need all 4 of the # 8's? And if # 40 are the tool box grab handles, I can send half of what I got too.
As for my build, the turret sprue was also found, but just about all the parts that are attached to it are gone (previous build from years ago I assume)...so, I might have to strip the old one, and try attaching those parts to the newfound turret shell, if the old one is unrecoverable. Still gotta look at each possibility.
Most of the other sprues found are almost useless. Heat throughout the decades has been brutal, as if the petroleum base of the plastic has leached out.
As for me, this campaign threw new life into trying to complete something for a change. So, you need to stay with this one as well...and drag out your M47 for this campaign. You encouraged some of this...so it's partly your fault!!

It seems it was just one #8 that was lost and yes #40 is the tool box handle. Most appreciated for the parts. I will be staying in the campaign with the M-47.
