Now that the Sheperd Paine-campaign is coming to a close, I thought it might be fun to have another one along similar lines.
Well, not quite......
Antique Antics!
Take a kit from your stash and build it. Throw anything you wish at it (paint & glue excluded). But! It all has to be pre-2000!
Any kit, any scale, any aftermarket, resin, P.E.... doesn't matter. Just as long as it it pre-2000. If it comes from your stash, that is a big bonus! And if it is a kit you have built during the early years, than the memories will be another bonus!
Startdate december 1st 2020, enddate june 30th 2021.
So what do you guys think?

I could possibly donate one of Italeri M47's to this cause.
Every Testors/Italeri kit I ever had of the M47 had no date past 1989. At one time I had 6 in the stash. The 4 remaining are all in some stage of build. Boxes long gone, but the M47 is still an excellent build 30 years later.

I still have to finish my Shep Paine build... got stalled on others, but yeah I would be interested. I have very wide selection to choose from, as I expect a lot of other people will have too.

I presume the latter. At least I hope so, as I drifted away from armour for ages as I concentrated on work, travel, girls, and model trains (not necessarily in that order!) until about 15 years ago when stash-stocking restarted. But I do have a bunch of pre-millennium kits to choose from...

Great idea, i would even suggest to ad "2020" so we can do it more than only once (i cot to many pre- in the pile)

Is there an easy way to date a tamiya kit ?? I have an old Horch 4x4, M2/3 halftrack and a Flak 88mm. I know I bought them around 2000... But not exactly sure of the date.....

Those Tamiya Kits you listed are definitely pre-2000. They are '70s kits. Still fun to build.

Yes, the kit has to be pre-2000.
You can even buy one now if you want, but that would defy the stash reducing purpose.
On the other hand getting a kit that you built 25 years ago might add nostalgia-points.

Hi John, you can find the year of manufacture on some of the Tamiya sprues. They are on the little tab at the top of the sprue on the opposite side of the sprue letter i.e. A,B,C etc..

For anyone wanting to check the date of their kit, do a Google search on your kit name and add 'Scalemates' to the search parameters. You should find a hit on the Scalemates site. Their Info page has the year of release or at least an approximate if the kit is too old for them to know, which would be okay for this build by default!
Just make sure you look at the initial release page, not the re-release page, as the dates refer to the relevant aspect as per this re-release page image. Also note the initial kits had a MM (Military Miniatures) prefix to the number where most now have the 35 prefix):

Hi Pete, thanks for reminding me how old I am - I remember those kits hitting the shelves of my local hobby shop!
(In fairness it was my older brother that got them - I was still minor-league back then with Monogram and Aurora...)

We are not old Tom, just ' a good vintage' !
I got the 88 in 1974.... I remember because it was a birthday present and we were going to move interstate at the end of that year, so I did not build it straight away, but waited until we had resettled... longest few months of my life...
