the original post can be found here https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/28463&page=1

this one has most of the basic rear deck made as well as the tool box and spare wheel carrier behind the cab.

this shows the tool box side. The other side is open with the sparewheel standing upright in it. I still have about 200 grantd line nuts and boltheads to fit.

All the brass and copper fittings you can see are scratchbuilt out of brass strip, wire and sheet.

the canopy frame has been made but I will not fit it until I have put all the nuts and bolt heads on the interior. I will put a canopy on it but the sides and back will be rolled up so the interior can be seen. Also I have the tailgate almost ready to fit and this will hopefully have home built working hinges on it.

any comments welcomed.

Brother Pouch

Another scratch built goodie from Roo's modeling bench.

Regarding your use of brass Cliff, do you attach everything with CA or do you do some "welding" for hinges, and the metal on metal stuff?

Impressive, (as usual).

I challenge you sir---try something different, like out of the box for a change :-)

The brass is hand cut and folded or bent to shape but the fixing is done with CA. this is the easiest way for me. But all parts must be clean so I wipe down all the brass with metholated spirits to remove any dirt etc before use.

Another fine example the the Master Craftsman from Way Down Under. I enjoy seeing all the different variants of Aussie trucks that you build Cliff. Thanks for sharing.

Not only are your trucks fantastic in their own right Cliff, but all these 'in progress' shots are great tuition pieces for the rest of us. Because I can see how you've made the detail parts I reckon my next truck will be the best I'll have made.
More please !!!

100% agree. I love these installments. It gives me ideas and some push into trying it.
Mr. Roo, please keep them coming. It is really coming together now.

The channel plastic you have used for the body sides ... looks very wide. Are you working to reference? Or maybe its just me.

looking at the pics it does look wide but in fact it is an optical illusion. In reality I used 40thou high X 15thou thick as this was the thinest I could get to work. But as I say the photo does make it look oversize.

I make every attempt to work to references and scale sizes but sometimes because of the problems encountered with strength and workability of different products you have no choice but to go overscale. Either that or change materials. I could have changed the plastic to brass strip but it would have made life hard for me with the cutting and of course CA glueing of it.

I have already stripped the tailgate of fittings (hinges etc) in an effort to get them right as I would like to make it an opening tailgate if at all possible. So I am begining to become an expert at making hinges for tailgates out of brass strip and wire.

Thank you all for your comments and I am glad that by posting my in progress pics that I am encouraging you to try it yourself. So please keep the comments coming
