It's not so bad once you get used to it. For me, I only have one badge. Procrastinator to the end. Heck maybe they will give us old forum users a badge or something to recognize us as the Kitmaker ancient ones. Especially us subscribers.

You actually have four badges by now.
Click Like (the heart symbol) on some post and earn another badge
Linking to something or adding a picture might get you another like.
The badges and levels feels like some gamification to get users to learn more about the tool they are using.

I will make the further observation regarding the difficulties of access to old product reviews and model build logs.

- Every model, no matter how old, is a new model to someone building it for the first time - but now it will be difficult or impossible to search the past threads to find reference material to better prepare for the task of building.

Also really don't think it is fair or viable to suggest that we copy over 40+ pages of data and mutual exchanges in an "old forum" thread that's been accrued over the last 8+ years!

You can really tell kids from the adults. A kid gets all excited about some "badge" for posting. An adult wants to read about what others are doing, what new kits are on the horizon, tools and paints and other advances. This site is going the way of a gamer site. Totally useless. I have a feeling some of us aren't going to be sticking around.

This site is an archive. A library. A repository of data by the modelers who have had hands on experience with kits, tools and products. A place where people have posted their techniques for handling certain situations, problems with kits that other modelers might not be aware of, reviews, opinions, tips and all the data you can only get through word of mouth because most books couldn't contain it all. There are modelers on here who have been building not for years but for decades. I reached the half century mark last month, I'm still learning, I still passing on what others have taught me and like other, experienced modelers, I'll share what I know. To me the only stupid question is the one not asked. But now newbies have to play a stupid game to get to post questions, follow silly, childish, guidelines to advance or be able to post more often.

Childish and ridiculous.

Crap I come to this forum in part to get away from all the political bull [auto-censored] of the outside world and now I get the same stuff here.

- Changes beyond my control.
- No clear information as to what is to come.
- Just the constant message "Change is a Comm'n!"

P.S. you have any M7 Priests in your neck of the woods? My Stepdad was a driver for one with Georgie's 3rd Army. Thinking of doing one up some day - eyeing Airfix/academy
