I Have been thinking of a new campaign (with a little prodding from Gunnie, Matt and Chad). The Heavy Haulers is the name I cam up with. We would build a Tractor /trailer rig capable of carrying heavy loads. They can be of any scale. A kit, plastic or resin, or scratch built/kit bashed. The key here is that they should be a tractor pulling a semi trailer. This would include any 2 1/2 ton single axle of the WW 2 era up to all the heavy haulers(M26 Dragon Wagon etc) up to the present day haulers. They can be from any country and from any era from WW 1 to present day. They must have wheels and tires (the heavy half track FAMO pulling the Sd.Ah.116 tank transporter is included). The start date can be from 27 Dec 2004 to May 30, 2005. The order of the red ball express would be awarded to all who finish on time.

Any and all feed back is welcome. So how about it. Is any body up to the challenge?

My knowledge of trucks is limited. When you say 2 1/2ton single axle of WW2 is that the same as the Tamiya 6x6 kit? If not, would the Tamiya 6x6 kit count?

Howdy Dave,

This isn't the 'TT' or Tank Transporter build is it? If this is indeed another truck based GB/Campaign I too would like some additional clarification on the WW II possibilities.....

Hi Animal, would a SA-2 transporter be acceptable or does it have to be a vehicle transporter?

Hmm, I have the Matchbox tank hauler and the Airfix one as well. Even have the Airfix airplane recovery vehicle, or perhaps the Volvo tractor trailer combo. All in 1/72 or 1/76 of course.

tractor units are trucks that have a semi type 5th wheel mounted in place of a rear deck.

the tamiya GMC can be converted to a bolster truck to comply with this one.

Count me in Animal I can see 2 possibly unique Aussie tractor units coming up in my mind .

LOL I have been sucked in again :-)

The 6x6 truck by itself would not qualify but if it were to be modified with the cargo bed removed and a fifth wheel added for towing a semi trailer than yes it would count.

Yes Tread this is the TT with a little twist to allow some older trucks and to encourage a little kit bashing/scratch building. What yo have in mind?

re

Of course it will qualify. It is a great kit by the way. I really enjoyed biding it.

Sounds like a couple of good choices Rob. Looking forward to seeing them built.

Ah my brother Cliff I would have been disappointed if you weren't part of this. I can hardly wait to see what you will have for our viewing pleasure.

To all the members who have been reading these post here... I am here before you today to right a wrong committed by me against our Treadhead. When wrote the first post in this topic I omitted the number one instigator Tread in suggesting this campaign. So I publicly apologize to my good Friend Gordon. May he forgive me for such a serious over site.

I might I haven't decided to get the resin M931/932 tractor and trailer setup yet .

I'll think about it and let you know because when I seen some of the finished work it blew my mind away.

There are some other rigs that I might do to.

No problem you are now on the team to help with the campaign. Heh heh.. :-) You can check on the modern entries. I will look into the Korean and Vietnam era and I would love to have Cliff and Pascal's assistance also. If they are so inclined.

My Volvo F12 Trailer Truck by ScanKit (#2021) is a civilian rig. Is there any problem with that? I bought this kit to use as diorama material for some KFOR check point dio I may do some time down the road. It is a sweet little 22-wheeled rig.
