Hi All, The Tank Terror campaign was due to start today, but seems still to be in the proposed state. I'm starting anyway, one vignette with two or three figures and one TD, probably a Jagdpanther.Or shall I use the jagdpanther for my Ardennes entry? .
Cheers
Henk

Hi Henk,
I believe it starts today 20/10/2004.
I am thinking of a British 25 pounder or a couple of Commonwealth Infantrymen with a PIAT.
PS... Know of anyone who does WW2 British weapon kits?

Henk, Tarok -
According to the "Campaigns", Tank Terror was supposed to start tosay and there seems to be enough interest/sign-ups to get it going. Haven't heard if "SgtWilhite" is starting it officially or not, but I say go for it. Like both of your plans. I like the JagdPanther (my personal favorite AFV) and the British PIAT team (maybe Arnhem?). I was thinking of a small diorama with a German Panzerjager team placing mines on a T34 as it goes over their foxholes. Also thinking of doing a TD, maybe a Hetzer (Western front) or Nashorn (Eastern front). Hopefully, enough others will see your "post" and get it rolling. Thanks for the wake up call as I've been focusing getting ready to start on "Bulge" Campaign and almost forgot about "Tank Terror".

Howdy fellas,
Wish I could be 'in' on this one with ya's, but with all my prior commitments this would be 'A Campaign too Far' for me......
Have fun.
Tread.
Although I am interested in which figure set you found a british PIAT Tarok?

I still didn't start, but soon I'll build the Rudel's Stuka.
I believe it was a great "Ttank terror in that time.

I can answer that for Tarok, and myself. There is off course a piat team in the DML 'Arnhem '44 Red Devils' set, wich I was going to use for my vignette. But I'll give Tarok first refusal on that as I have my Jagdpanther to get stuck into. There is Also a piat supplied with the Bren Carrier from Tamiya.
I think you should be able to pick up a allied weapon set from Italieri.
Cheers

This would be a good campaing for the wing nuts to get involved, Stuka, Typhoon, A-10 Warthog......

Tarok, I'm not sure if the 25 pounder is a AT gun, is more of a heavy artillery piece. But then, now there will be plenty of people posting foto's of 25 pounders in AT mode.

No photo but the 25 pdr was certainly used in an anti-tank role. The circular plate the wheels travelled on meant that it could be traversed quickly (and easily) when chasing moving targets.

for further information,
until the arrival of the 17-pdr, the 25-pdr was the only british gun available that could destroy any german AFV.
it was not usual practice to deploy them specifically as AT guns, but if german tanks came into view they were engaged on open sights, usually with great success.
my grandfather was in the royal artillery during the war, trained on 25-pdrs, 4.5s,5.5s and 3.7 mountain guns, and members of his unit that had fought in the desert had knocked out all manner of german tanks with them.
sorry for going off topic but i think it would be fine to use a 25-pdr, as long as it was obviously in a diorama showing AT gunnery
regards
joe

Just notice this thread. Just what are the requirements for an entry? IT seems like it deals with anything that is/was used to destroy tanks.
Does it need to be built now or would a completed model. In other words, i have an M966 (TOW) mostly completed back in Jan. Still could use some improvements. Would this model be acceptable?

Ed,
as far as I understand one may enter any model into a campaign as long as it within the campaign guidelines and it hasn't been entered before...

Tarok, don’t forget that the 6 pounder was used to good effect by the British paras at Arnhem!

True. But I think the 25 is just a bit more impressive. If I can't find a kit of the 25 I will go for the 6.

Hey all:
Does anyone know if TT officially has started yet? I know we are all planning our entries but it's still under proposed...
On a similar note, I bought my backup entry this weekend. A British 6-Pound Anti-Tank Gun. Will use this if I can't find the 25pnd'er or the PIAT.

Ola People
I will enter this campaign with my 105mm german recoilless AT gun: Der Hammer (the Hammer) So far I have cleand all the parts and I have assembled the carriage of the gun. The gun itself is still separate of the carriage. Also added te fig that will accompany the gun on the vignette
The progress can be seen here:
Der Hammer Work in Progress
The story is more or less that this gun was defending a position somewhere in the Ruhr. The Germans that manned it abandonned the gun when the ground became to hot under their feet due to the allied advance. A US MP looks in awe to the gun.
