The ‘Braille Scale kinship’ seems to be growing in the model building community and especially as of late here on Armorama lately, how about a Braille Scale build?
Most campaign entrants, myself included, tend to enter larger scale items, all I propose is ‘singing from the same hymn book’, namely Braille Scale!
A Braille Scale operation / mission, whatever form it takes, with rules set up by the participants and controlled by one person.
Your thoughts / ideas on rules, timescales etc…
I suggest, a maximum of 1/72 scale in any genre, thus making it a mission in the general modelling campaign section.
Timescale:
Start date: 01/06/2005
End date: 01/09/2005

Im in. I have a stack of 1/72 modern kits from Revell and Dragon. As a matter of fact, this would give me reason to start and finish the Dragon 1/72 LCV and the diorama I started with modern Prieser figures, M1A1 and a Bradley.
One question, the dates you suggested, 1/6/2005 to 1/9/2005, do you mean 6/1/2005 to 9/1/2005??????

I'd build a Braille scale kit (surprise). I actually have several on the workbench and dozens of unbuilt kits waiting for a reason to be built.
Pete, he probably is dating it in the European style DD/MM/YYYY vs. the US style MM/DD/YY

Yeah Pete missed that one! Don’t worry according to my daughters I am way-way behind, “Prehistoric” or “Jurassic” I believe is the wording, not just two months. :-)
With hindsight 01 June 2005 to 01 Sept 2005 would have been more appropriate.
Thanks guys, so far we are seven in favour, IMHO we need at least 12 maybes for a campaign proposal.

Eric,
10 is the minimum for Campaign submission, 3 more to go.
This time i am going to complete a campaign. I always sign up, but with my schedule, I never could finish one. This year i am going to do this one and the one that Moezilla is starting.

I'd certainly have interest. It would give me a push to get going on the DML and Revell kits I've been accumulating.

I may come in on this one, depending on circumstances at the beginnning of June, just gotta figure out what to do between now and then! I'm under a lot of pressure to severely curtail my modelling as literally every flat surface other than the beds, floors and kitchen worktop has a model on it! The dining table is exempt as well 'cause that's also my workbench!

I'm in, I'm in. Does that count as two votes? :-) I have way more than I care to mention 1/72 stuff and this will give me the perfect reason to jump head first into it. Lets get rolling! "Q"

Braille scale is slang for 1/72 or 1/76 scale armor models. Named after the man who invented the Braille language (how blind folks read). What do you mean by braille?

I'll do it.
I have started building again after a year. I only do braille now. You can see a couple examples in my gallery.
Not yet sure what I will build though...

I'm in!
You guys just gave me a reason to start a new project Anyway my only problem will be "time" as this semestre at Uni has just begun and I'm gonna have loads of work. My exams will start on middle May, ending on July, so that wil give me even less time..However I'm sure I'll be able to put at least a kit together so my goal, wich is to get this group build as much builders as possible, and not really the "quality" or "amount" of kits build, will be achieved.
I would just like to add that I think it could start a bit earlier, like in middle March or so.. It would give slower builders a chance to finish something and it would give faster builders a chance to finish up more models or more complex works.
I think it should be split into categories like dioramas/vignettes, axis vehicles and allies vehicles. Pretty generic categories as we aren't that much modellers and so we dont end up with 1 modeller per categorie or something like that...
Just my 2 cents

Thanks for all the responses, looks like we’re going to be up and running.
Right everybody seems happy with the timescale.
Rules:
I know the colloquial / slang ‘Braille’ is applied mainly to armour in the scales 1/76 & 1/72, but for this campaign so as to allow other Genre we apply it to all scales from 1/72 and below.
Now I also know that while 1/72 is Braille to armour etc, for an aircraft carrier etc… it is huge!
For the Gundam guys, got for it! At 1/144 and 1/100 they are legal!
The only three rules I propose are:
Scales only to a maximum of 1/72 scale be allowed and in any genre.
Figures entered be part of at least a Vignette.
And most importantly HAVE FUN!
Any other rules?
Any artistic types like to try and put together a ribbon?
Anyone going to try Dragon’s 1/144 armour?

Thought this emblem might be fitting:
It says fin (for finished or complete) in Braille.
