Well, this one has been taking me a while to finish, but as I stated in my thread showing my M1 Panther II, I have a new love in my life and modeling has been put on hold for a little while. I managed to get a little time to get some pictures taken.

All it is lacking is weathering with Mig powders and finishing the driver and front passenger. I wanted to put "Texas T Patches" on the shoulders of the figures to represent a hummer from my brigade, but I'm not that good at printing homemade decals.

I guess she is made from flesh and blood and not armor and tracks... :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

However, I think this is one of the best Hummers I have seen around here (I'm no Hummer expert, so please excuse me if I'm wrong). Love the cardboard sign in the front (suckers!!!), and the Rockwell "plugger" is the kind of details which makes this model come alive. I would really like to know how you built it since I'm currently building my own vehicle which has the same type of GPS. Nice to see the correct SINCAARS radio as well. I think you can see that this vehicle is built by a soldier. It is loaded in much the same way I would load with my old Gelanderwagen. Looking forward to see this one finished.

Cheers
Erik

Thanks oonce again Erik!

Yup, the love of my life is of flesh and blood!!!!!!! :-)

The "Plugger" was given to me curtosy of our very own MAJ Gino (HeavyArty). he made them and casted a few for me as a trade. As a matter of fact, the Sprite box was done by him too. The other two boxes was done by someone else, but for the life of me I can't remeber who. IF ONE OF YOU GUYS REMEMBER SENDING ME THE FILE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN GIVE YOU PROPS ALSO!

The rest is of course Tamiya Hummer, Blast OIF sets, Eduard photo etch, ProArt's SINCGARS, and Nemrod figures.

Beware that your new SWMBO doesn't keep you away too long ! :-)

Nice kit BTW. I love the personal touches like the sprite cardboard box and the Texas sticker on the rear hatch. That's detailing !

Oh no Olivier! As a matter of fact, lately she has been apologizing for keeping me from doing any modeling. What a women.

Thanks for the comments though!

Looks like you have a keeper and, with the Humvee, a keeper. This is supurbly done. Having two of my own and knowing how small these really are in 1/35, I can really appreciate the detail that went into this!

Everything down to the rank on the figures. Which BTW, I don't remember there being an outline behind the rank emblem, mostly because I can never tell the rank of the person at a glance, I usually have to stare at them!

Jeff,
Those are Echelon's ranks and patches. It is supposed to be the sewn on ranks. The green is a bit to bright. It is supposed to be more darker, closer to olive drab dark.

Looking great, Pete. Thanks for the mention on the PLGR and soda box. I think the water and MRE box file came from Marcelo. He sent them to me as well.

Good job. Looks great.

Wow thats very nicely done. I too am trying to do up a hummer at the moment but already its not look as great as yours.

Im guessing the radio set and extra equipment were from Blast Models?

Im also curious but is there no standard colour for the "standing platform" in between the driver and the vehicle commander?

also, where did you get the smoke launchers from?

Sorry for the 20 questions but this definitely is the most accurate model ive seen based on the reference photos that i have.

Jeremy,
The radio's are from ProArt.

The smoke "poppers" are included in the Blast sets. In total, there are 3 Blast sets on my hummer.

As far as the platform, it is sort of a metalic olive green color.

Looking good, Epi... real good. I can see all the Blast sets and ProArt SINCGAR. What really makes a difference are the small details: the cardboard sign on the front, Texas sticker, smokes on the radio... really nice. What will the guy on the top be holding in his hand?

Good to hear you have a new lady in your life. I always thought you model too fast... :-)

Cheers,
Mario.

Thanks Mario!

I'm not sure what I want to put in his hand. The box art for the figure set has him holding his M-4, but I thought that would be an over kill since he is sitting next to a .50 Cal and SAW. I figured the SAW was his primary weapon. I think I have a couple of water bottles from the Tamiya M1A2 kit or maybe some type of newspaper or map.

Any suggestions?

Well, I was thinking he might be holding a radio/walkie-talkie or something like that... don't know if that would be suitable since there is SINCGAR in the Humvee.

A cigarette? I don't smoke so I'm not sure if the hand is in a awkward position?

Mario.

Why add an AT-4 on the hatch, when you are armed with a Mk-19 and a SAW? Each weapons has its own pros and cons. For the same reason that I see tankers shooting an M-4 out of the hatch, I think adding one is a good thing. A SAW and an M2 aren't exactly precision weapons. The SAW gets close, but if he needed to pick someone out of a crowd...

Good suggestions Mario. The options are endless, but it has to be something unique.

In that case, how about an open MRE, or he could be handing a closed MRE to civilians?

That would for sure add even more realisme to the model. It happens when you need it the least.

Other options could be an Ipod/walkman, handheld radio (Icom type), Coffee mug (Ok, the angle of the hand is a bit wrong for that), an American Football (???) or ammo belt for the SAW. But I still think the roll of toilet paper is the best suggestion.

Damn, that's a good looking Humvee!!! Pete, you're a master builder.
I can definitely see the figure with a toilet paper on his hand. His face looks like he can use some "relief" or "release." It will be a funny diorama. :-)

We ran with AT-4s on our trucks over there. I dont recall where we put them when we had the 1024s because of the hillbilly armor but when we had the 1114s we just put them in between the open hatch and the rear of the box turret. Nowadays though you cant go around with them because there are so many FOBs that dont allow AT-4s to be brought inside the base. Commies.

Anyway, we had a bunch of you Texas boys up with us, in fact I believe a large majority were attached to us. And believe you me, I was always glad to see the Lonestar flag flying when those trucks came in versus a Tennessee flag lol.
