Hi Cliff

Do I post pics on my gallery or is there a gallery for this build?
Sorry if this is a dense question.

No it is not a dense question mate. There is a campaign gallery for FINISHED pictures only. Any build progress photos have to be put in your gallery.

Gallery is in the Campaign section of the gallery (I think) but the Campaign leader Jeff (US Navy2534) can confirm.

Cheers

Here are pics of the portee so far

Having trouble posting a portee pic, can't seem to copy and paste onto this panel.
Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Hello,
now it's time to show what i am going to do. My project is the Autocar U7144 T tractor with the trailer company of america's semi trailer type C2 12,5 ton. The rig carries a DUKW as load. I found the original picture in a book call "Restaurierte Militaerfahrzeuge" from Emile Becker. The title stands for "restored military vehicles".
Because the markings of the duck are not readable i desided to use the decals of "Portland Rose" wich come with the kit. I post two original pics of this truck too to confirm the markings.

I have uploaded some more pics from the models to my wheels II album.
Move it again

Happy modelling

Dus looks good. How much did you add into the chassis?

Also, and this is not a nit pic but for information sake only, the chassis is not even close to 60% accurate in relation to the real thing. It is just one of the faults of the Tamiya chassis & kit in general.

here is an accurate CMP F60L chassis

this was done for my scratchbuilt cab 11 CMP. As you can see I used the Tamiya quad running gear and winch.

Hi Cliff

Nice chassis! I didn't think it was particularly great but don't have any info/pics of CMP chassis. You're right about the shape being off.
Don't suppose you know of a source for 1/35th plans do you?
I added 40mm and a bit onto the rear (Not very accurate I know but just eyeballed from a photo). I am looking to make a 160" wheelbased 3 tonner based portee.

Best Regards

What made you need to add to the chassis? I figure that since you can't see the chassis from the outside (unless you turned it over of course!), it won't matter too much. Either way, right or wrong, I think it is a good start. Maybe next time around, you'll stumble on some blueprints or something like that .

um not to be rude but if people ask the right questions first they shall receive :-) .

I have a set of rather well detailed photos of the Ford chassis some even with a tape measure in inches for you guys in the States to read. :-) LOL how do you think I made mine? To send the info by email I need to do it in two zipped files so if you want it PM your email to me and give me a few days to get the info out and I will send it. But I will only do it if you intend on using the info now! If not ask when you are ready to use it and the photos are for personal information only.

Now that was for every one who wants the files.

Dus the wheelbase is 158 inch not 160inch. probably not all that noticeable at 1/35 but worth knowing for next time. Most of the chassis on the portee was hidden so there is no problems with what you have made although I suggest you take the rear parts you added off as they will be seen and are inaccurate. These chassis (in most cases) ended not long after the rear spring shackle. Another person who has a lot of information on the Portee is Jratz who built one some time ago and if you PM him I am sure he will help out as well.

Cheers

Another mini update - about 90% finished.

Read the PMMS review and added stuff kit was missing (drains, windshield clips, tool clamps).

Hey all!!

I AM IN!!! Just check out my progress!!!!!

Okay, on a serious note: It's the old Tamiya kit # 15 with the bare-bones Eduard PE #35002. The figs will be used for something else. This is merely going to be a "parked, unoccupied" Jeep and trailer. Gotta get back into the swing of things..........been a LONG time.
