Looks good! I always use my zippo when doing burnt out buildings as you cant get more realistic than real soot! Plus as its a real flame it goes upwards as a real flame would. Adds a nice smoke damaged look.

I was a little concerned at first as this was my first battle damaged kit. But I rrealy did enjoy the process.
Look forward to seeing some more purple hearts

In terms of the actual turret damage, how did you create it? Heated metal rod?

Jeremy,
I used a drill but it was smaller than the hole you see. When I used the lighter to blacken the turret it opened up the hole somewhat which is what I thought might happen.

Cheers

Hey all,

Posted some pictures here of my submission to this campaign. The link is to the Purple Hearts Campaign gallery.

The title of the diorama is "Stalking the Russian Bear." It is a diorama of a disabled Russian KV-Ic on the road to Leningrad begin stalked by German infantry moving through the woods adjacent to the road the tank is on. There is one infantryman running at the tank with a shaped charge. He is hoping the Russians do not see him. More infantry is in the woods too.

Hopefully you will enjoy them. I really enjoyed building this diorama. Tried a lot of new things for me. First diorama completed since 1993.

Wow with that many AM and PE parts, are you sure you can bear to create some damage?

I almost feel for it.

Here is my entry. Nevermind the base. It's just a sample base I use for taking pictures.

Alrighty folks!

The time is ticking and there is one more month left to recover our wounded and fallen brothers and sisters.

Provide an update if you can, photos would be even better!

I've been making progress and still hoping to get at least the JagdPanther done before deadline. The diorama is using a base I'd started earlier and now will expand it to add into a larger picture frame to allow for more figure room and some trees, etc. I've never done a 'mine' damage diorama so I'm working on how best to show damaged road wheels, etc. Know damaged wheels would look better shown blown back/bent under for inner ones and more out/away for outer, but a start. And thanks to 'Warthog' for the examples of his Elephant diorama. Crew is in work also. Slowly getting there.

Hi there,

I joined the campaign a bit late. Only a couple of weeks to go but i hope i can manage. This project what i'm making, was for an other campaign but it allready ended. Paul (007) mentioned that I also could join this campaign. So i did. This project is about a Willys jeep that has been crashed to a tree. It is stil in progress. I hope you like the Idea. The scale is 1/72

I made the damages myself.

The figure will be placed next to the Jeep.

The figure got new arms and a new hand with gun.

Regards Mark

Gday Mark and welcome on board! At least you are someways to finshing yours!
I think the damage, especially in 1/72 is quite convincing... Good job!

Here is my progress since last night (night 1, you could call it )

Opted for a simple, small base... It has a crewman on some high ground, and a Sherman (not the one I'm using. This is a stunt tank) that has struggled to mount the last gradient out of some low ground, and has slipped back in... The area behind the tank will be muddied water, which may or may not look effective when filling in the corner of the base there... There will be little if any vegetation on the base, just sloppy mud...

Ignore the crewmans' hands, which are yet to be sculpted!
Cheers

My entry is still in its infancy. (Another damaged jeep... )
As I exceeded my quota and can't post any more pics, here's the link.

It's stil work in progress. I have to make the rust more convincing, color the ground, and hide somehow the unconvincing damage to the seat cushions.
any comments are welcome; if you have some input, please let me know.
Thank you.

Hey Dave
Whatever floats your boat (or sinks it, in line with this campaign :-) )
I think you could do either, so long as we get to see some pics!

Here is an update on mine...
Approx. day 4... The tock is clicking

This is my fresh 2nd pour of resin... there will be a final shallow clear pour tomorrow, to tie up the edges better, and give the impression of a little depth...
