The T-28's done, pics in the gallery
the T-35's complete and painted, just needs weathering, and the figs doing
I need to source some "blacken it" for the tracks?
Andy
Hello Andy
I also need a source for Blacken it in the UK, so if anyone knows a source it would be appreciated. I have however used Carrs Metal Black on some Friuls in the past. Its more available in the UK but its very expensive and the bottles are small
Ian
Hi Ian
I tried carrs metal black, did bugger all
and cost £14 for a bottle
, I'm waiting for mission models to quote me for shipping charges from the U.S for some blacken it

Was just looking at drumthumper's pic of the KV, (and I realize he mentioned fenders), but his KV looks pretty cool with the track fully exposed like that as a work in progress.
Just curious, in reality, did KV's ever run with the fenders completely removed or torn off? It just gives the whole tank a more menacing feel. Just curious. Thanks.

Depending on the amount of wear and tear,.... yes, I have numerous photos of KV-'s with partial and full fender removals.

Steve, my lads entry for this campaign ,also a KV-1 is being built with some fenders missing
makes fitting and painting the tracks a little easier for him

Steve,
I prefer modeling tanks as they were actually found in a combat situation - meaning the fenders were usually bent, torn or removed altogether. But in this case, the reference photo I am using for this project shows the vehicle exhibiting intact (or nearly so, as far as I could tell) fenders. This model is being built for an upcoming FSM article and I felt I needed to stay true to the documentation, so this pic simply highlights the tank, sans fenders, as leaving them off for now will facilitate some weathering techniques I'm outlining in the story.
Thanks,
Mike

Carrs worked ok for me, but the reaction slowed down very fast so a set of Tiger tracks were only just done. If you would, let me know on the postage costs as I have a few sets of Friuls I'm looking to coat.

I have seen pics of KV1s and KV2s with intact fenders, missing sections and completely gone. Not sure there is any rhyme or reason other that lack of maintainence when fenders become damaged. I don't think it's one of those hidden discoveries about better performance.

My SU-122 is painted green and waiting for further steps. I haven't decided yet if it will be green or whitewashed.

Steve, KV-II update
While I posted the first painting coats in the Gallerey and the Campaign photo area, I have completed some weathering / shading and the base coat of some rust areas on the wheels. The tracks have a base coat, but some issues with my FLSTF are keeping me from finishing. That and I still need to do some touch-work on my SU-85 for AMPS.
I will post some pics (hopefully) this weekend.
Just wanted to throw my 2¢ comment in.

Hello everyone,
So it seems that i am going to have to pull out of this campaign (and all the other's i was in that end before june or so), as i managed to break a bone in my left hand yesterday and will be in a full forearm cast for the next 6 or 7 weeks!
I don't think i am going to have much luck with one handed modelling.
anyway, I'll be looking in on the campaigns with envy, so everyone keep up the good work!

Cheers

Shee-it Vance, all I can say is "ouch". But I am sure you said more than that.
I wish you the best even if it keep you out for a few weeks.
Later,

Hi again!
I'm withdrawing my T-80 from the campaign, as I have too many projects and building 2 T-80s for two different campaigns seems too much for me :-)
Instead I'm in with a surprise, a finished T-55. It has been "reconverted" from the Esci Ti-67 kit, I had built the kit about a month ago with a diorama in mind, resulting only in a lost T-55 somewhere between the shelves. Yesterday when I was fed up with the T-80 roadwheels, I stumbled upon this fortunate tank, completed some bits(like the antennae) and here it is!
If I can find sometime in between, I will bury it in waist-high snow with Russian ski troops jumping off during a winter exercise. Currently it is only a diorama with a finished tank and a semi-assembled base.

Hey, I've got like a month left, but I'm in and building! I started an ERTL T-55 a few days ago, right now I'm still detailing the turret. I stashed the kit at my parents' house like unto 20 years ago, and found it when I was visiting this week! Needless to say, it needs some help in the detail department, but that's the part I love. I'll post pics from progress later this week.
