Finally finished, my OIF M-923A2 gun truck. This one is based on a truck I saw while searching the net for gun truck photos and what Dave (animal) guided to me. I used Vodnik’s excellent build article to aid in furthering the detailing. The kit started out using Italeri’s 1/35 M-923A1 Big Foot kit. All the little extras and detail were scratchbuilt using Evergreen Plastics. Here's a look The wheels are from Tank Workshop, a great set of wheels I must say, and well worth $22.00. This was built for the Modern Armored Subjects campaign.
I’m not sure what the copy right law is in showing the pics, but I will post the link on the gun trucks and the one I build mine based on. Gun Trucks
There are over 20 photos in my Gallery that you can have a look at.
Comments and Feedback welcome, enjoy!

Beautiful Joe. I really really like this build of yours. Wow!. Would you like me to make a link to the pics or save the pics and put them in a gallery to place on the site?

Great piece of work Joe. The scratchbuild parts look absolutely great.
Love the base. fairly simple, yet very effective.

Great build. Rusty plates look awsome and give nice contrast to OD truck.

Wow! Stunning model! Looks very well detailed and superbly finished. I love the armoured box, and armor plating-lt looks very realistic.
Its a shame no one will produce some dry transfers of serial numbers and those HARDOX markings they would look very could printed onto the armor plates.

I really like this. Your depection is really good. Plus I like the base, its so simple.
My only critique would probably be more ammo.

Some months I find it almost impossible to schoose what to vote for - so I take ages and get irritated.
Thanks for saving me that irritation this month Joe
Great build, makes me a bit embarrassed of my entry to be honest

Thanks guys, this was another fun truck to build. I’m working on a third right now, another OIF gun truck w/ a larger gunners box. As for the plated armor, well it didn’t turn out as good as I had hoped. The bed box was painted in a red oxide and the side armor, well I was going for the just starting to rust look, no scale.
Yeah Rob I agree on the HARDOX decals. I must have painted the gunners box a least 4 times, really. I tried so hard trying to make those numbers in dots. I finally said forget and was satisfied with what I did.
I never had any luck making bases, I even read all the threads and post on what many of the others did on theirs. The truck it’s self is not attached to the base and the sand is real sand from Iraq. My nephew brought back a large can full for me. He advised me to microwave it before I used it due to any of the parasites.
Jeff as for more ammo, yeah I thought of it also. I just didn’t want it to look like the older gun trucks used in Vietnam, which most were filled with sand for added protection. Also from the many photos I’ve seen from the OIF gun trucks, they really weren’t that loaded down. I’m sure they loaded up once they went out on a mission or supply run.
Thanks,
Joe

Great job on this one. The dusty look is perfect. Make me want to build one in this scheme.

Thanks mondo, they are pretty cool. I was going to use pastels on her but decided to use the sand. I figured why not use the real thing. I just grounded it up a bit finer and applied it as if I was using pastels. If you follow this Gun Truck link you will see some of the different trucks used along with some hummers. Even doing a goggle search under OIF gun trucks will yield some great ideas.

Looks really cool! I like the ciontrast of colors and how the green paint looks faded and old.
